could be the slip yoke.

there is a TSB on this for adding more lube. Do a search on slip yoke in theis forum to get more information.

I Bet All The Problems They Are Having With The Slip Yokes Is That Thet Are Not Machined Correctly.

someone here suggested they were using the wrong lube (bearing grease vs teflon grease)

There have been lots of discussions about this problem on this site. Search for them and you'll find some good info. I've that several people have had this problem. The teflon lube will stop the problem for a couple of months, but I hear that it comes back. However, seems I read somewhere that someone did get it fixed ... required dealership to do some type of service on it ... don't remember exactly but it is in a discussion thread around here somewhere.

Could be clutch packs or a combination of Clutch Packs + Slip Yoke.

Clutch Pack Search

Clutch Pack 1

Clutch Pack 2

Hope you get her fixed!!!

I have it too. Seems less noticible w/ recently installed tuner for some reason. . As far as I know it dosen't hurt anything, plus it supposedly comes back shortly after greasing the yolk. I have a severe case of " fear of the dealer" so I'm not bringing mine in.

ford's been having problems with binding slip yokes for ages. It is not a new to f150 problem... Do a little research, and you'll see. if it was a simple machining problem, they surely would have gotten it fixed by now...

Where the hell is the slip yoke? I should know this but for some reason I don't. Anyone have pics of it? Any pics of after the "lubing" of it?

The slip yoke is contained in the cone shaped "tail" where the drive shaft is attached to the transfer case.

I have an '05 SCREW 4x4 Lariat and it does the same thing. I had noticed a couple of times before and just ignored it - but Sat. it sounded as if I had a package in the rear seat that had just fallen to the floor - the thump was that loud. This was just as I was taking off from a stop and - I even stopped, got out, opened the rear door and checked the floor area, under the seats and even the bed to be sure something I'd forgotten about hadn't fallen over.....nothing was there though!! Guess I'm gonna have to go face the dealer over this - but it doesn't happen all the time - so I hope I can recreate the noise.....
