Tahoe to F150, anybody make that move?
I have a problematic Tahoe and am researching what could be an alternative choice. I've never had a pickup but would consider one that also could seat 4 comfortably.
I live in the city, drive about 70 miles a day in commute, then a couple hundred on the weekend including up to 100 towing a 7000 lb boat trailer.
How would the very pretty F150 hold up? Anyone made this particular transition(Tahoe to F150)?

I went from a 97 Tahoe and 02 SWB RC 2wd GMC pick-up to a F150. Went to a SuperCab FX4 with the 5.5ft bed to fit my garage. If you use the back seat for hauling people you will probably want a Super Crew, Gas mileage with F150, which at this point only has 3500 miles is about the same as the Tahoe and about 2mpg worse than the pick-up. Towing with the Ford is about the same or a little better than the 97, but not nearly as good as the 02. Probably not a fair comparison, 2wd vs 4x4 and the GMC probably weighed at least a 1000lbs less. Once in motion, the Ford is great; it is just off the line that it feels down on power.
My truck so far has been very reliable with only a computer reprogram done at the first oil change. Less problematic than the Tahoe was.
If you like the Tahoe, the Ford may SEEM a little long due to the longer wheelbase, but after a day or two you won't notice. Try one with the reverse sensing option as it makes city parking simple.

I went from a 02' 4X4 Tahoe to 05' Supercab FX4 and could not be happier. The Ford rides better, drives better, and tows better than the Tahoe. Not quite as much room for the people in the back, but their not making the payment. The interior is no comparison. Its one of the best decisions I've made.

mi dads got an 03 tahoe. the hoe feels like it has more torque. my fx4 has a stiffer suspension but that might jsut be because of the fx4 package. i like the truck better. it feels more solid and stronger than a tahoe. but u have to remember one is a truck and the other is an SUV they are gona feel different.

I went from a '96 4WD Tahoe to the new F150 also. I really liked the tahoe for along time, but the years were catching up to it and It was doing the nickel and dime thing. I considered a new Tahoe or Escalade but one test drive in the new 150 sold me. I bought the Screw for the extra room and passenger capacity, and with the lockable tonneau cover I still have the extra secure space for cargo. Between the two, power and mileage are really close I believe but the Ford ride is second to none. Buy the truck, you wont go wrong.
