Help! Very Bad Fuel Mileage...
I've got a Scab 4x2 w/ 5.5' bed and the 5.4, and I routinely get 16-17 mpg in city driving exclusively. And that is in Knoxville that has quite a bit of hills on my trip in to the office. I take my first highway trip this June and I fully expect to get at least 20 mpg. We'll see though.

yellowFX4, I think I know why your truck is giving you such bad mileage, it's payback for having such nice seats. They rock!

I don't think there's anything wrong with your truck.
I think it's your foot.

That may be the case with some but definately not mine and my buddy's. I just recently got the re-flash which made do difference. I even took someone's advice of keeping the R's below 2000. Well, my MPG did get to 14.5 at 99% highway driving. Trust me, I drive enough that I know how to conserve. I had an 04 rental prior and it would get 15-16 city and 17-19 highway-basically same truck as I have now. I put around 10k on it so I had lots of oppurtunity to get consistent results with it. So, YES, there is something not right with some of our trucks.

Thanks, to everyone who responded to my mileage questions.... It seems that I am pretty close to everyone in the mileage..... I guess I will have to give up food , but not the beer.... 04-FX4

What rpm are you reading at 60 mph and 70 mph. I have 35s and I am looking at getting 4.56 gears. I am still trying to decide between them or 4.27 gears.
Thanks
I noticed that my mpg was staying the same according to the truck. So I reset it and it was way different.
Have you tried that? Stuiped question, I know but you never know.
Im getting 14 mpg in the city and up to 19 mpg on the highway, even with my 33x13s!

Out of nowhere, either I really learned to drive the truck or it learned me driving it, but I got my best milage ever yesterday. 400 miles on 25.9 gallons, ~15.3mpg mostly in town driving...much better than before at 11 or 12mpg. Just found it interesting...
Iv'e seen so many different MPG,s in here. I wonder if it could be something as simple as the odometer settings being different maybe recording to many miles or to little miles. Just a thought. Personaly I get 13.5 MPG 75% city 25 Hwy. All my long trips have been pulling a boat so no idea about long Hwy MPG's
