Unhappy Im too damn confuesed!

As most of you know I've been researching lifting my truck. While I really want to do this, I don't want to hurt my truck and run into any major problems. So here is my question, would you do it or no? I was also considering on just waiting for the Donahoe 3" to come out.

I added up everything and it'd cost me about $5200 including taxes for a Fabtech lift with the Dirt Logic coilovers, 35' Nitto Mud Grapplers, and Helo Maxx 6 18' wheels. I'd have to also save up for this. Considering Im getting about $4300 for a bike I have for sale.

So with that in mind would you do that? OR! Just buy the wheels and 33's. and spend the spend the remaining $2300 else where on the truck? and if you did choose this route, what would you spend the money on? These are the things I can think of right now, new shocks (not sure which ones), new brake pads, leather wrapped shifter, stiching done on my seats, alarm/remote start, componnent door speakers F/R, Kenwood Exceleron DVD player, and maybe the Lincoln Mark LT door handles/tailgate handle if they fit on my truck.

This really would be a no brainer for me. IF I could lift my truck without worrying about reliability problems. I know I want the both of best worlds but its not asking too much.

Im open to opinions, but not smart *** opinions.

I really don't want a supercharger and I wasn't even going to re-gear with the lift kit and 35's. So Im definatly not doing it now, but thanks for the opinions.

Im such an indecissive person but I guess thats normal when it comes to $4300. Im thinking maybe I should just go with option 2 and I could even get a tuner, exhaust, and intake. I'd have to save up even for all that stuff but at least I wouldn't be spending money on fixing broken parts caused by the lift.

Who were you going to have do your lift? at my dealership the guy i went through for aftermarket parts told me that if i had wanted to lift my 03, anything that goes wrong would still be covered under warranty since i went through the dealership. just a thought if you decide you want to do a lift, either way your truck looks bad *** as it is dude.

Edit: hope you arent selling the CRF. shame on you if you are .... but kudos if its to get a YZF

I'd be having 4 Wheel Parts or this local place called Bubba's Trucks do the install. The only thing is, I called my local dealers and they all said if anything breaks because of the lift it'd come out of my pocket. Which Im not complaining about and I understand. They said they could do the install and warranty the work but it'd cost about $1000 in labor.

I am selling the CRF, but its because Im taking a break from riding. Breaking my back and my foot makes me sick to my stomach to realize how easy it could happen again and how much worse it'd be if it happened again. I'll probally ride in a few years but never as hard as I was riding.

I would get the Tires, Stereo & Alarm. Im sure you will enjoy them more than the lift anyways.
Later Trev

P.S. Are you able to drive your truck yet?

I think it kind of just hit me how much over my head it'd be if I got the lift. Considering wheels and tires are going to cost me roughly $2000 and the headunit is $1400. That leaves me with $900 + $200 a month untill the time I plan on buying on this.

Are the Blisteins the best shocks out for an upgrade? and wheres the cheapest place to get them?

PS: I've been able to drive for the past 3-4 weeks, and Im starting to walk slowly. It hurts but its now or never so I might as well start now and get it over with. Good thing Im stocked up on all the pain killers!

I'd go with wheels and tires first. I would put the lift off until last. I really don't like high lifts. To me it takes to much away from the beauty of the truck but thats just my opinion.

man that sucks big time, how did you wreck it? i know this guy who had a YZF450 when it first came out, Real good rider i bet he could easily have gone pro(not as good as riders like RC or Reed but he could be their lapper!) over jumped a 100FT table top and ran right into a tree killing himself, its extremely dangerous thats why i always take it real easy on the track.

If I don't put the lift on now, Im not putting it on for at least 2 years if even by then. Im not going to spend the money on new tires only to buy the lift and need bigger tires. That'd be a waste of money.

I posted a long time about how it happened but basically I blacked out before a 75FT table and hit it 4th gear pinned. Over jumping it and landing feet first onto the face of the next jump. We measured it and I had landed 110FT from probally about 30FT above the ground. I consider myself to blessed for being able to walk. It makes you appreciate things in life a lot more, thats for sure.

Im glad to hear you are walking, and happy you are able to drive your truck again.
Nothing worse than having a great looking truck sitting in the driveway beging to be driven!

Here is a good site to price out rims and tires with free shipping!

Sort of depends ... best for what ? ... What do you want the result to be? I thought my fronts were fine for regular driving ... but didn't like the rears. Pretty much any good replacement would have been ok... The FX4 uses a Rancho ...

A better performing offroad shock but not HORRIBLE on the road.

Hey Thump--please read this before going with 4 wheel parts--I stumbled on it doing a Google search--it is worth the read--

http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff104095.htm

Of course, everyone has their own opinion and experiences, I for one, have never dealt w/ 4 wheel parts, so I cannot say one way or the other. I am sure there are MANY people with good experiences or they would not be in business. Just wanted to give you a little more reading/research material to check out.

And on the lift--if it was me and I REALLY wanted the lift, I would save up the extra jack for the CST lift--more money but extremely well engineered. If you are buying 18" wheels anyway, maybe stick with the stock wheels and bigger tires w/ the suspension lift for now? That would save you about $1500 or so. Seems like the forum is split on lifting or not lifting. The leveling kit would also get the truck up enough to get some 33's like you said--maybe a bit lower profile (but still offroad) to give the illusion of extra lift between the wheelwells and tires. If not that, I would go with the money on one of the Troyer performance stage II kits. Whew--LOTS of decisions......keep us posted....

On shocks ... Price for price ... I'd say either the 9000's or the Bilsteins ... are the only available choices as the next options have a doubling of $'s... for not much gain in my book. That is of course depending on what you're ultimately after?
