Gear info needed quickly!

I need to know what the costs are to upgrade to 4.56 Gears and what brand is best!

Help - The wife may be feeling generous now that I have caused trauma over this BlkButy - LOL!

Setup costs vary depending on who's doing the job. I'd say 6-8 hours worth of labor as a rough guestimate.

Which brand? For what axle? I've always liked FRPP gears for Ford axles; Richmond is good, just stick with any reputable brand name and get someone who knows what they're doing to set it up, and you'll be fine as frog's hair.

I was quoted about $1500 for front and rears Genuine gear 4.56s Parts and labor, they wanted to have 2 days. They said 1 day is not enough time.

When I do mine, I am going to have Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings installed at the same time. I can't really see them charging very much, if anything extra for labor. They will have the components out anyway.

The Energy Suspension polyurethane bushing kits for the '05 are suppose to be out within the next 2 weeks. I am not sure if they will have the graphite impregnated available in the same time frame.

Good Luck

I had Yukon gears installed. I checked around and decided on the guys who guaranteed me no gear noise. Also, the mechanic (Ryan) has been doing ring and pinions since 1992 so i figured he knew a little bit about it. They charged me $1700 total. I called a couple of places and they said ALL gears make noise (Which I know is not true) But i found 2 shops (that were charging the same) who knew what they were doing and guaranteed their work. Remember, gears installed properly will not make any noise. You might want to check with some local race shops who specialize in rear ends since drag cars mostly always change ring and pinions for quicker e.t.'s
Good luck.

hey black, i had a thread about some 4.56 gears the other day where i called to various places to order gears and replacement kits....the lowest price i found was from reider racing...199 for the gears and 149 for the kit. This was also for a two wheel drive so double the cost for the gears. Whatever the cost of installation is should be much less than the 1500-1700 dollars quoted here. also, the gears are precision gears...as the companys work in conjunction. :santa: hope this helps

Mine run $1500 installed from and rear. Like someone said previously, any of the large manufacturers should be good. I used Superior Gear and im happy with them. I have heard good things about Richmond and Yukon. Supposeldy Motive is made by Richmond.

THX for all the replies!

I think Yukon is who I am going to go with based on my research!

I was quoted $400 for the gears and roughly $500 for labor!

WAIT....

Why dont you throw Detriot true trac in front and rear along with upgrade gears ??

if i have money i would do that and get rid of POS factory limit slip.

Detriot true trac has NO CLUTCH PACk, no wear parts!

I paid $1200 for parts for front & rear gears, front Eaton electric locker 31 slpine stock is 28 spline, ( had new front axles built out of 300M $400 for those ) solid spacers not a crush sleeve on pinions and new seals. Did the labor myself. Put 12000+ miles on them thus far.
