Ford already uses a xenon gas in their lights, they just arn't blue. So your paying $50 just so you can look at your headlights and see blue. Since Ford already uses a xenon gas our lights are going to be white like those but since they are blue, would that reduce actual light output?

stock aren't blue... but they are less yellow than halogens of 10 years ago

i think that is what he is saying. Because of the blue coating it is actually going to make the light produce less light, i guess like putting a lamp shade over a lamp. What im lost about is the lumen thing. According to sylvania, the standar silver star produces 1000 lumens of light at 60 watts and burns at 4000k, with a blue coating and a silver tip. I THINK! a standard halogen that burns 3200k at 60 watts produces 650 lumens. It has to produce more light.
HIDPLANET, im not trying to argue with you, just get informed, you know more about these things that anybody else on here prolly does. Help us

It never fails to amaze me that some folks are more interested in looking cool at night than actually being able to see something. Sure, I'd like my truck to look cool too, but if it does that at the expense of my being able to see something in front of me - that might wreck my truck or injure someone - I'll pass.
As for the "blue" thing, look at it this (very non-scientific) way. Blue is a darker shade than clear right? So attempting to get light out of something with a blue "lens" will reduce the amount of light getting out. The police around here always run at least one clear rotator on their light bars because that's the one that will really get your attention. The red and blue ones just aren't as bright - for the same reason.
Unless you go with a true (fully engineered) HIS system (which has a ton more power), just adding blue bulbs will always reduce the output of your current system.

what can i say, im addicted to blue light specials And as far as light output and being able to see, im going to also buy a set of silverstar 9005s for the fogs, so that should help light up the road if these are a little dull. And the stock headlights suck anyway, if you are worried about seeing, get a set of off road lights those should help light up the road

Those bulbs are not blue coated, the g lass has a high temp blue tint. It is mostly for looks and does not impare the light output. And since these are brighter than stock, they should work fine. I had a set identical to these in my Dodge dakota, and they were awesome. I might just grab a pair and see how they work, if I do not like them I will send them back.

My 2 cents: The blue bulbs look cool. The light is very white. The "splash" pattern of the light on the road sucks. In wet weather, it sucks the big one. I have the 100 watt, off road, 4zillion degrees brighter than the sun bulbs, and their performance is substandard to the factory 55/65 watt bulb. While I don't have an 05, I can assure you that MOST of these cool looking, highly touted high power bulbs are very poor. But they do look cool!

well, i dont drive much at night anyway, and even then, my aftermarket fogs shine more light on the road than the factory headlights, in fact, sometimes i even forget to turn on the headlights and i never notice. only problem is the fogs are a superwhite, and it looks goofy with some yellow headlights, thats why im looking to upgrade.
im hoping someone will get these and try them out, just to be sure they arent POS

ive just been introduced to the aftermarket head lights and was wondering why we can get silverstars? If i could find a pair i would definently buy them. cant we just order them from germany? My stock lights are alright but they could be better. Why dont they make those silverstars in the US?
