Window Tint Question for RockPic and anyone else with tinted windows

Hey Rock,

I'm going to tint my front windows and I want to know how dark to go. I haven't seen an F150 in person with tinted front driver and passenger windows, so I don't have anything to go off of. I think MN's legal limit is 50% but I have no clue how dark that is or if it even looks good. What % are your windows tinted at? Also has anyone considered doing a top bar tint across the top of the front windshield...how does it look?

Thanks,

F150 Duke

Screw the legal limit. Factory match is 20%, anything else looks mis-matched. 50% is a very light tint, and if you have a light interior don't even bother.

Sorry for the large pic, I'm too lazy to resize and re-upload.

Yeah my F150 supercrew is black with tan interior so I'll probably go 20% or 30%...still want the chicks to be able to see me!

chicks can't see you with 20%. 50% they'll see you, but not the pimples on your face or yellow teeth.

Lol, well dzervit in that case I'm assuming you went with 5%?

Anyhow, I'm thinking 30% or 40% might me a happy medium. I don't want my truck to scream pull me over b/c my windows are jet black.

I went with 15% and I can see into my truck. and it matches perfectly. Ride with your windows down if you want a girl to see you plus by night time you should have a girl next to you.

I need to post some pics of mine but...

15% looks really good on the doors.

32% looks good on whole windsheild (Illegal) I have gotten by with it since I was 16 years old on different trucks.

I like mine dark so nobody sees the big ugly women I have to haul because I couldn't afford a Lariat or FX4!

50%=Barely Nothing.

tinter in az.

tint is definetly a plus each state has their own laws in az. its 35% but it is not really enforced on my trucks i run limo tint 5% all the way around, limo/5% means that it only lets 5% of the light threw. but any tint elemenates uv rays from getting to your int. no fading of seats ect. and the tint at the top of the windsheild is called a banner and it really helps. you say mn limit is 50% that means that it will still let 50% of the light threw and mn may enforce that number so do some checking. get it tinted! p.s. you want a metalized film or ceramic film do not get a dyed only film it wont hold up and last it will fade out with in a couple of years. Hahah, yeah the fat ones definitely have to ride in the limo tint...Just called the dealership and told them to make the fronts with the rears regardless of legal limit...what the hell, live on the edge right? Pics to come this weekend. It's in the shop till Thursday night to put on stepups, linex liner, homelink, billet grill, window tint and the paint/rust proof package. Quick way to lose a grand.

The dealer should use metalized tint without me asking them to do it right?

I did 35% on my front windows and 35% over my 20% factory on my rear door windows.... left the rear window factory 20%.

This is the same setup I had on my explorer and love it. You can still see in but the cops leave you alone.

Yeah in MN we're lucky to see the freakin' sun. By the way the lady who is in charge of aftermarket stuff at my dealership is way hot, but way a bitch! Check the attitude at the door lady, I'm paying you to get this **** done.

CA laws suck. Here in Nor Cal we get to the 100+ degree weather in the summer and we can't have any tint on the front windows. I'm having a hard time finding a place that will tint them for me since it's illegal.
I'd be fine with 35%, as long as the cops can see in they don't usually bother you. My wife had limo all the way around on her car and after 3 tickets in a 1 month period we removed it. What sucks is that we bought it from the dealer that way.

Anybody in Norcal know of a spot I can go to, to get this done?
