Opinions wanted on New F150s
I've had mine over a year now with 30K miles and I still smile everytime I get in it. I would DEFINITELY buy this truck again.
I think it tows very well for a 1/2 ton truck. The low end torque really helps it get the weight moving without it revving to the moon to get some power. It's no F250 or anything, but pretty good.
The first week I got this truck I drove it to Oklahoma and had No problems with getting comfortable in the seats. I do have power adjust.

I'll throw out a slightly different perspective. I have had my 05 F150 screw for about a month now. The truck drives like a dream and is very comfortable and manuverable. Previous to this, I have had three F350s with V10s. We decided on a change in hopes of better manuverability and better gas mileage. I also assumed that the F150 would pull my stuff adequately ( 4 place snowmobile trailer, 20" ranger boat).
So far, I am disappointed in both respects. I can't get over 12mpg with this truck. The V10s got 12-14 on the highway. Towing has also been disappointing. The F150 pulls OK, but nothing like the F350/V10. I also am only getting about 9mpg pulling a two place snowmobile trailer. I realize that some people will disagree with me and I suspect that if I was not used to that bigger truck, it would be a different story.
Again, it is a very nice truck and well suited for many uses. 90% sure next next truck will once again be a superduty.

As for the towing, your right, a 1/2 ton truck simply cannot pull like a 1 ton truck. That's a pretty big jump to go from a 350 to 150.

the other thing is your driving habits. Are you giving it a ton of throttle to duplicate the acceleration of the V10 while towing?
The thing I've found with the 3v 5.4 is that it can be very efficient when granny driving, but get a heavy foot and your mileage is no better than a Dodge.
Yup, an F350 is no comparison to an F150. That was the exact point that I was trying to make.

There must be a heck of a lot differences in the gas mileage between F150s. The worse mileage I have gotten in my truck's 2700 miles is 12.5. On a 1100 mile trip with the cruise set a 74 most of the way the worse mileage was 15.5 including some very long mountain "climbs" and a best of 18 on the flats. It is a FX4 SCAB with 3.73s.
With most of my vehicles I never get close to the EPA numbers, so I am happy with the F150.

I find my F-150 Screw to be a bit of a dog. I was out wheeling in a foot of snow and It would rev up to get through it. In first gear with my foot matted it would only get up to 2200 rpm and barely push through the snow. On the highway my mileage has been 13-14 mpg going about 75-80, not very good, but it does drop a gear and rev up nicely for passing. I suspect my 35's are my main reason for poor mileage. Even at 70-80 the mileage isn't much better. But I definately need gears for off roading, or some mods for horsepower.

I do not buy based on loyalty, I buy what works best for me and performs the best for me after extnesive test drives and research.
I do not have a local Nissan dealer so for me I could not test drive one of those. I did however test drive Chevy's Dodges and my ford. Prior to this I owned an 02 Silverado half ton. After testing and riding in the various rigs, I settled on the Ford. Mainly for the ride comfort than anything else. My old Chevy definately had more pep to it, but I figured the better torque and the nicer ride would far outweigh the occassional WOT differences between the rigs. As for the dodges, I just couldn't get over the looks and ride of the rig. All three drove fine and in the end I traded my chevy in for a new Ford.
That same month we traded my wifes HD250 in, and for her there was no other choice than a new 250 wtih the V10. Now that thing does pull and it pulls well. I couldn't even imagine trying to pull our 3 horse trailer around in my F150. If you do a lot of towing and hauling I'd definately look into the HD trucks and not even think twice about the half tons. However it's a work truck so it definately isn't as comfortable a ride as my rig. Actually my wife likes to tease me about my 'comfy truck'
If you are like me and only do a lot of light towing and a lot of hauling in the bed, then the F150 is probably perfect for you. Good luck in your search!

I would highly recommend the captains chairs.
I've got them in my FX4 and they are as comfortable as the seats in my M3. Even after 6-7 hours in the saddle on trips.
Other must have for me is the Audiophile. If a super high-end aftermarket setup is what you have to have, then skip it, but for a factory setup the Audiophile is hard to beat.
I've got 13K miles on my 5.4 FX4, and surprisingly its delivering about 17 mpg now - mostly city. Was 12.8 when new.
All around I've been very happy with this truck.

The Titan is cool in the regard that it's the first serious full size pickup threat to the Big Three from a Japanese manufacturer.
Unfortunately, Nissan seems to follow GM's theory in design, building an excellent powertrain in search of a wrapper of equal quality. Yes, we all know bragging rights is a big thing in the automotive world, especially in full size pickups. The F150 gives up power and acceleration to the Titan, but in return, it gets excellent road manners (admittedly, I haven't driven a Titan down the highway to compare) an interior to suit anyone from a construction worker to a businessman, a slightly higher towing capacity (which is bunk IMO regardless of the truck; I'm not pulling over four and a half tons with any half ton truck) and the nameplate of a solid product that's the best in the industry and has been for the past 28 years.
I'll admit, the Titan is slowly growing on me. They say they move out with authority. The exterior styling is alright. I like the option of a factory spray in bedliner. I could do without all the chrome on the front end and the bigass "TITAN V8" or whatever logos on the doors. I'd like them a lot more with some better quality interior trim bits.

Have 9600 miles on the 05 KR. It is a world of difference from my 01 KR. Much quieter, more percise ride and more power. Fuel mileage is about the same 14+ mpg. 13 if I run it hard.
Seats.....the 05 are much wider and the base of the seat doesn't turn up on the outsides as the 01 did.
The Audiophile is MUCH better then past radios.
The only small down point is that the 05 drives like a larger truck. But, I'd buy it all over again. It's the best.

Okay I'm not trying to start a flame war here, but thought I'd give my honest opinions about a test drive of an 04 Titan when I was in the market for a truck and when I bought my 04 Silverado Z71 Crew. I had business in a nearby town so I decided as I was passing a Nissan dealer I'd see what all the hype was about. The truck was a doublecab SE with the floor shifter and list for approx 33,700. There were a couple of good things I can say. The room inside was super. Both front and back seat space was huge. Also, the 5.6 was very powerful had good pickup from a standstill and at highway speed. This is where my list of positives end.
I know the Motor Trend and Car and Driver boys like to give domestics a bad wrap, but there were many things I felt were superior on the American trucks. The quality of the materials was far and away more upscale on the GM trucks (admittedly they are nowhere near up to the new F150 though). Even in the cloth interior Z71 I was looking at the quality of the fabric and the overall fit and finish of the GM truck was much better.
As I stated before the 5.6 had good power, but considering all the hype I expected a big difference from my current 5.3 Chevy. As I came to a redlight, this new Nissan with 16 miles on the clock had a terrible vibration under the defrost vents on the dash. Honestly I had an 88 Ford Ranger with 95K miles that had fewer vibrations than the Nissan. The factory Nissan spray in liner with the utility bed (gives some movable tiedowns) was a $900 dollar option. With that the tailgate was covered with a plastic drop in liner like cover. No spray on the tailgate. I really believe a Linex, Rhino, or Speedliner is much better for at least 1/2 less.

Given the choices you've outlined there's no doubt that I would choose the F-150, as a matter of fact I would be driving one now if GM had run at me with so many $$$$ to buy their truck. However, I wouldn't trade my bowtie for one of the Titans. New F-150..... that one would be harder
