Question 4.6 Liter- Best Exhaust?

I've searched and there are many recommendations. What I need is to find out who is using troyers MPG tune and what exhaust they are using. Also what MPG are you getting?

You bought a truck and are worried about miles per gallon, for the money you spend on mods you can buy a crap load more gas.

Well that was helpful wasn't it?

I bought a truck with the purpose of actually needing it and putting it to good use. I don't see any problems with trying to squeeze a extra mile or 2 a gallon.

Magnaflow makes a great exhaust. They are made of stainless steel and they sound awesome. You can't go wrong. About the gas milage...I'd say any aftermarket cat-back exhaust system will net you better mpg's since most are mandrel bent and have better flow characteristics than the OEM (stock) exhaust. Some of the best are Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Gibson, just to name a few.

I thought the OEM 2 ½” stainless steel exhaust was mandrel bent?

It is. The aftermarket exhausts flow better because they usually come with a freer flowing muffler.

And if you call the guys at hottexhaust.com, they will (or at least use to) knock about 20% off their advertiized price. makes it less than 400 bucks for a stainless Magnaflow system...Kevin

Any good catback with low restriction muffler will give you more ponies. I get better highway miles per gallon with the Magnaflow 24 inch muffler, on my 4.6 Reg cab catback.
I had a local shop install the catback system, out the door, 293.00 including the 8.5 percent tax. I had the 18 inch installed originally, but the truck was too loud on climbing grades at low throttle, something I have to do every day. The 24 is fine.

If you highway, the best thing I have done for my mileage is the tonneau.

Around town, not much helps. The K&N air filter does help a little local driving.
My tuner is just the regular 1714.

I prefer Maganflow on these trucks because it won't kill the low end torque. It has helped me in the gas milage department from the Flowmaster super 40 I had installed from the dealership at purchase. I have no idea what the difference would be from stock though since I never had stock.

I don't think any exhaust is going to be a huge MPG saver although I have had good results. I would think more on the line of E-Fans and underdrive pulley to remove parasitic losses would be better. I have both but do not have them installed yet so I can't give you numbers yet....
