Alpine CDA 9833 Install

I just purchased an Alpine CDA 9833 for my 2004 F150 FX4. This HU requires you to wire it directly to the battery with an amp wiring kit. I'm wondering whats the best place to run the wire through the firewall to the battery?

I ran mine thru the rubber grommet on the firewall near the brake petal. Cut a small hole in it, ran the wire up to the top, fished it thru the wrie loom thats under the hood at the top of the firewall and right to the battery. Easy and looks clean.

I went through a grommet behind the glovebox. It drops you pretty close behind the battery

Both grommits they mention are good, or if the wire is no more than ten gauge, you can route it under the chassis, to one of the rubber plugs below the door sill. You come up under the fuse box that way.

I just put the same alpine deck in my truck about a week ago. I got it off Crutchfield.com. It cost me 299 out the door and came with everything to install it. installation was easy, even for me The whole installation took about Half an hour.

Alboston - for me the hardest part of the install was trying to find a place to go through the firewall. For the direct battery wire. If you get it through Crutchfield they send you directions on how to install it.

Thanks for the info. Looks like i will be getting one of those alpines soon. How did the face plate kit look? I was worried that it would look cheap.

I already asked this in the audio section with no answer so far, so I'll ask it here. I have an 04 scab 4x4 with standard cd/tape deck. it plays great but it's not loud enough. I have an amp with equalizer I bought 5 or 6 years ago will it work in my truck, will the factory speakers handle the extra watts. It's one of the older models with the equalizer slide buttons, I've never taken it out of the box so it should be ok as far as wether it works. It says 100 watt.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Scott

Instead of going thru the firewall, look forward of the fuse box on the passenger side footwell. There should be a plastic cover that you can pry off, and underneath you will find a nice 6mm or 8mm stud that connects a large wire from the battery to the fuse box buss. All you need is a proper sized nut and an eye on the end of your wire. This is were I got my amp power. Much easier than fishing thru the firewall.
