Exhaust Lies!
Exhaust Lies!
hey gang,
i just wanted to let everyone know that i have seen several muffler shops advertise claim that flowmaster hush power2 produces more hp for the f150 than any other brand in stock. these shops do carry most muffler brands. they clocked fowmaster2 at +20 hp and corsa at +18 hp. i was really interested in magnaflow until they have it listed as only +6hp. i need to know what everyone thinks about these numbers. +20 hp for just an exhaust mod soounds kind of high to me. anyway waiting for your thoughts.

I find it hard to believe that ANY exhaust system will net you over 15HP on a Naturally aspirated engine.
I have a SI/SO FLowmaster on my truck.. or Flowcrap as others call it.... and there is no way that I gained anything near 20HP.... maybe 3HP... it the upper RPM range..
But it sounds better now at least

thats the kind of numbers i thought. so when i tell these dealers that sounds kind of high they always tell me that relates to flowmaster1. so they say flowmaster2 are much more effective for hp boost. they used some kind of test that requires wwater. beats the heck out of me. in that case...i bet my spray-in bedliner is at least +10hp...cause you know.......its not bedliner1 its the new improved bedliner 2 hushpower=)

If every bolt-on actually produced the power it claimed, we'd all have 400HP naturally aspirated trucks for less than $2,000 in parts.

5hp max, thats even a little hi.
I just took off my muffler, welded in a 3 inch pipe for the least amound of restriction and felt 0 difference.
You would be surprized how quiet the truck really is, its quieter with no muffler then my buddies Ram with a Flowmaster. It has a good tone, clean sound, the best flow, and its the cheapest.

BUT i did see an improvement in fuel mileage and performance. i have time slips and fuel cost. yes i waited till the motor was fully broken in first. 3800 miles or so. give or take 300.
Then how do they explain this:

And more improtant to me is what the heck did they do to the torque? Did it go up or down?
