He is Prob speaking of his Torsion Bars.
That is what some people do to get a little lift along with adding shackles in the Rear.
I had a Isuzu Trooper that i did that to and, while it looked pretty good with 31s and that shackle and Torsion Twist , it sure didnt ride good and was not very safe. It seemed that every bump i would hit would throw the front end all over the road.
I could be wrong but i assume that is what he is talking about.
Just be careful.

His truck must have front torsion bars... there is a bolt on each one that by tightening will raise and loosing will lower. Thats how all the Explorer guys do it. I dont know what type of front suspension the 97+ F150s have and I have never looked under the front end of a 4x2 new style so I dont know. Im going to say no.... you have the coil over front springs like the 4x4s. The torsion bar takes the place of the sping and runs horizontal. I know the 98+ rangers had torsions for the 4x2 and coils for the 4x4s..... so im not sure.
If you have front coils then no you cant do a torsion bar lift..... but a torsion bar lift makes it ride much stiffer.

Your friend probably called them "Tortion Bars". And no, your truck does not have them. The only way to lift the front is to install spacers, or a lift kit. Spacers can be had on Ebay from Auto Spring, Daystar, and a few other smaller makers. Spacers cost around $115 for the part, and then you have installation costs (mine was 125 including allignment). Lift kits are another story-quite spendy!
