Tightening bolts raises front end?

He is Prob speaking of his Torsion Bars.

That is what some people do to get a little lift along with adding shackles in the Rear.

I had a Isuzu Trooper that i did that to and, while it looked pretty good with 31s and that shackle and Torsion Twist , it sure didnt ride good and was not very safe. It seemed that every bump i would hit would throw the front end all over the road.

I could be wrong but i assume that is what he is talking about.

Just be careful.

I might be wrong by i do not think the new f150 had them, it uses coil springs in the front

Gotta be talking about the torsion bars. Not good. Save your pennies for a level kit. Best $100-$300 you'll ever spend.

He probably tightened the bolts at the rear end of the torsion bars. I dont think the 2004/5 trucks use torsion bars but I could be wrong. I have a 2wd, not 4wd or I would go look.

His truck must have front torsion bars... there is a bolt on each one that by tightening will raise and loosing will lower. Thats how all the Explorer guys do it. I dont know what type of front suspension the 97+ F150s have and I have never looked under the front end of a 4x2 new style so I dont know. Im going to say no.... you have the coil over front springs like the 4x4s. The torsion bar takes the place of the sping and runs horizontal. I know the 98+ rangers had torsions for the 4x2 and coils for the 4x4s..... so im not sure.

If you have front coils then no you cant do a torsion bar lift..... but a torsion bar lift makes it ride much stiffer.

He probably tightened the torsion bars. The 04 and later trucks have coil over shock springs instead.
Sorry dude, no free lunch, you'll have to buy a lift. There's an autospring for sale in the classifieds at a good discount off of retail.

Your friend probably called them "Tortion Bars". And no, your truck does not have them. The only way to lift the front is to install spacers, or a lift kit. Spacers can be had on Ebay from Auto Spring, Daystar, and a few other smaller makers. Spacers cost around $115 for the part, and then you have installation costs (mine was 125 including allignment). Lift kits are another story-quite spendy!

around $115 for the set (2 Spacers). Check Ebay, they are listed there under "2004 F150" As for warranty, my dealer said anything under 3 inches is no problem. Juat a tip, but an important one, get your allignment done after the spacer install as it does throw out your camber.

Did the place you get it at offer a lifetime alignment or something like that?
