Dealers and loaners.....

What is the deal with dealerships and thier loaner cars? Are they required to issue a loaner with a warranty repair, or is out of sure luck and kindness you get one? I have that stupid rental car reimbursement on my extended warranty and it is a pain in the *** to get refunded. Thanks.

A good dealer will take care of a good customer.

My dealer is awsome, I think they would carry me home if needed.

only problem I am running into is that I purchased my truck from my cousin. He is a sales manager in Austin and I live in Dallas/Ft. Worth area and seems that they are all hesitant to help me in that way since I didnt purchase my truck from them. Too far to take to Austin every time I need warranty work done.

Yep I can understand that.

My local ford dealer is a butt nugget. I would'nt buy touch up paint from them.

I drive almost 100 miles to my dealer but its worth it.

I guess that's the price you pay by purchasing a truck from an out-of-town dealer. Yes, I understand that you bought from your cousin, and I'd probably make the same choice. But realize that a portion of that choice is the fact that you did not buy your truck from the dealership that you are now asking to do your warranty work.

Life is a series of choices and we shape our lives by the choices we make. Accept the consequences (good and bad) of your choices. In exchange for supporting your cousin, you deal with a little more hassle when getting warranty work done.

The dealer does not have to supply you a loaner. Like it was stated above if you are a good customer they will look after you. If you take it to a dealer that you didnt buy from, you are really at their mercy.

Bottom line is buy a vehicle from a dealership that is close to you and make sure that you bring up the fact that you want a loaner vehicle at time of purchase before you close the deal.

In my case the dealer doesnt have loaner vehicles, but as i have bought 5 new ford vehicles in the last 3 years they treat me very well and they look after me.
Just my 2 cents.

My dealer takes care of everything with the rental and ESP. Between them and Enterprise, I don't have to do anything but drive the POS rental.

I was just going to start a thread on this same subject. I had a bad battery in my Screw and the dealer that I bought it from wanted me to drop it off, or wait 3-4 hours so it could be checked/replaced. They would not give me a loaner. I went to another, larger dealership and ran into a guy that I bought a used ($3000) vehicle from a few months ago. He said to give him a minute and let him see what he could do. I was expecting a used vehicle, or if it was new something like a Focus. He put me in this for the day:

This was a brand new FX4 and was nicer than my XLT Screw. I had a bunch of errands to run and he told me to use it like it was mine and to bring it back when they finished my truck. I was really suprised that they were willing to do that for me, especially when I didnt buy my truck from them. THey have earned first shot at all of my business from now on.

What qualifies you as being a good customer? Isn't it good enough that you spend almost 40K on a new truck to get on the "good customer list"?... Or do you have to buy a second and third vehicle to become a "Gold Member" and receive the rental car of your choice? "Tell us what they've won BOB." "Well, a rental car for one day and dinner for one at your favorite fast food joint. ---all for being a valued "Gold Club Member." Come on! If you have to be without your soul transportation for over a day, they should provide you with something! No matter if you bought from them or some other Ford dealer...Ford should take care of their customers all over the country. "We" are the ones who made them the number one truck for over 28 years and "We" are the ones who helped them achieve their claimed record of over 900,000 trucks sold in 2004. Without all of us, they wouldn't have a pot to ..."well you know the cliche." Dealerships don't think about it that way. They're just thinking about their bottom line and what's convenient for them. ..........Take care of your customers dealers!!

Unhappy

lol fx4scab. You should have seen a few of the loaners I got. One was a 10 year old Lincoln with 130k miles, ignition that would spin freely and could turn on accessories w/o a key. It was a pimping machine. I guess at least I got that but damn that's an old fleet!

Dont get testy with me, im just stating the facts. Now adays with insurance and all that crap, its not feasable for them to give out loaners to everyone. That is why most have a shuttle service now.

Sorry Trev...I wasn't flaming on you. Your probably right about the insurance and all for giving out loaners to just everyone whos truck they have to work on. I guess I'm thinking about those who have to have their vehicle in for more than 1 or 2 day for something. If the truck is a person's only transpotation to work, etc. ...then they should provide that person with something. That's all. .......Peace!

Lots of times they don't want to mess with the hassle, but if they have to keep your vehicle overnight for a warranty repair and it is not useable they will get reimbursed from Ford.
