rear end banging could be the slip yoke needing lube (TSB on this)
noisy ashtray? try closing it properly or taking the change out of it.
what seat belt malfunctions? It didnt hold you in and you went through the windsheild?
Engine and tranny better matched is a power to the pavemnent issue. This truck is very heavy and the tires are generally taller than past trucks, but with the same basic gear ratio. Change these out and you will have similar performance to your 2003.

First off, I am not bashing Ford or F150's. I have had 4 other F150's over the years and race one in the desert now.
However, I have had some problems with my '04 5.4. I just got it back from the dealership; they had it for FIVE WEEKS!!!
Over that time they replaced the lifters, the timing chain tensioner, and the sway bar links.
I am very surprised that the lifters went bad at 40K, actually more like 35K, they just couldn't figure out the noise the first time I brought it in and left it for a week. Any one else have these problems? And, I know I am not the ONLY person because the dealership said they had seen this on another truck.
I have also had the dreaded shifting problems that many others have described. I wonder if going from 235's to 275's might have caused this? Does the Troyer tuner allow for tire size changes?
Any constructive comments would be appreciated.
