Regrets

Well,

I wish I would have asked this question before I bought my truck last wek (05 FX4 Screw).

The seats (Leather trimmed captains chairs) have to be the most uncomfortable things I have ever sat in. I should have gone the Lariat route and gotten the next level seats.

The reverse sensor would have been nice. Not sure how good it works but I'm not gonna feel too good when I squish someones Yugo at the grocery store.

Other than that, it's a great truck. I'll post some pictures here soon, once it stops raining here in CA.

I sympathize with you on the seats. It has taken me awhile to get it adjusted where I can sit in it for any length of time. There is a lot of adjustment there-just got to find the right spot I guess.

By your profile, I am guessing we talked about you getting this truck before??? Congrats!! It is frustrating to love the truck so much, but have many little things that detract. Its just a different ownership experience than I am used to.

Send me an email so we can hook up sometime!

Yeah....It seems the FX4 seats are a little hard on the tush after long hours sitting. I believe all of the seats are designed with the same style and inner foam materials. The FX4 seats have the vinyl in the middle upholstery, which I believe is intended for more outdoor abuse as opposed to solid leather. I don't know if the others are any different in terms of comfort or not.
No offense Lariat owners...but I think the FX4 seats are designed for the tough outdoor guy in mind.

Let's get down to the nuts and bolts of this...

Are the seat assemblies on the FX4, Lariat, STX, and XLT different? Sure, they have different covers on them and one might be electric whereas the next is manual. One may be tan whereas the next one is grey. Surely they aren't individual part numbers for individual types of trucks.

Maybe I'm wrong but, it seems like that would be a silly thing to do... *shrugs*

well i can tell you from owning a FX4 and driving many Lariat's the seats are the same, the only thing differnet are trim colors. and i will admit that the first long trip i took with my truck i was less then pleased, but after sitting and there and getting my adjustment just right and some time in the seat i find my seat very comfortable.

your truck is a week old let it settle and let yourself get adjusted to the truck before you start having regrets.

Mac.

the seat on mine is much, much different than my 98 which was much much different from my 89 Chev.

Each one took a few months of getting used to due to different shape, firmness, etc.

Once you get used to it you will find it very comfortable.

I would assume all the seats are the same. My leather Lariat Captain's Chairs are very stiff and were quite uncomfortable for the first few weeks. I kept adjusting the seat daily and finally found a position I can settle on.

I drove my truck 100 miles this weekend to visit my grandparents... upon arriving we took my grandparent's '03 tahoe to go get some dinner. WOW... those captain's chairs in the tahoe are COMFORTABLE compared to the F150's.

The problem I have is when the wife wants to use the truck and changes the seat settings! Must take me a couple of hundred miles to get it back to where I had it! Wishing for seat memory...

(I know I'll get flamed-"Don't let her use your truck then"...Hey, she is still living off the "equity" of letting me get this thing!! )

Sure they are... I understand that.

I was meaning more along the lines of 'apples to apples' here. Meaning all new body style vehicles...

Boy, didn't know i would generate such a hubbub. The seats are defintely not in the luxurious catagory, but i guess I'll get used to them. Thanks for showing me that I'm not crazy.

I know exactly how you feel ke. I have the same thing goin at my house, takes me like 5 min. to readjust the seat to find the sweet spot everytime I get in it after her. And yes, there is only one place that works for me too, otherwise the seats ARE uncomfortable!

If everybody's butts were the same shape and size, I know a lot of women who would be out of a job...

Personally, the way the seat felt was a big deal to me; I'd have had to bought something else if the seat didn't feel right.

Not being sarcastic, I have major spine problems...
