Question Bassani or Magna Flow?

I am on the verge of buying a cat-back for my '04 screw. I have researched most all available choices and have narrowed it down to two forward exit exhausts under the following links:

http://www.sporttruckdirect.com/Bassani_Exhaust.html
http://www.rpmoutlet.com/04f150bax.htm

You have to scroll down a little but you can see that both are lightning style forward exit and both have 3.5" tips. The bassani has 2.5" pipes w/ the magnaflow having 3.5". I found the bassani on another page for $585 but I can get the magnaflow for $450.
The man at the exhaust shop says he can do the magnaflow muffler w/ his pipes for $250ish plus tips but Im scared because it seems so cheap and I want quality even if I have to pay.

I dont mind spending the money because I want something different and stainless. Does anyone have an opinion on either or any pics I could see. Also I heard its better to get exhaust welded on rather than using the clamps?

A coworker of mine put the Magnaflow single side exit exhaust on his FX4 Screw on it looks and sounds very nice. I like the way the tip is welded on to the pipe and not clamped on like some other system. I am going with the Magnaflow dual side exit on my FX4 Screw.

I have the Magnaflow Lightning style exhaust and I like it alot. It is a little too quiet at idle--sounds stock, but when you get on it it comes alive. It has a low rumble while cruising. I installed it myself in a driveway at 10:00 at night using a flashlight. It only took about an hour and the hardest part was removing the stock exhaust because I didn't have the truck jacked up and couldn't swing the tail pipe over the rear axle.

I would recommend the magnaflow. I just put mine on last night and I love it. Hardest part was removing stock pipes.

Hey Dootsie,
If you get a muffler shop to do something, make sure they use mandrel bent pipe. I "saved" some money at the local shop here and am getting the parts together to put a MagnaFlow system(smart me also had the shop change the y out). I lost quite a bit of mid range power in the process.
Another thing to beware of is when your truck weas built.(if you buy a kit) If your truck was built after June 2004, some of the kits may not fit.
Shop around because I know you can beat 450 on the MagnaFlow...Kevin

I know everyone is saying magnaflow and im sure its a nice system but, I think everyone leans toward that one since it was out a long time before the bassani came out. Ive been going back and forth on which exhaust to put on my truck. I honestly think I may just buy a muffler and some tips and have a local shop do it and save a lot of money. However..I had the Bassani on my '02 Mustang GT and loved it. It was by far the best exhaust sustem I have ever owned, installed and heard. I loved it. They make a quality product and if you go with it, im sure you will not be disappointed. Plus it will be different since not many people have it on there truck. I was even thinking of buying one of there mufflers instead of the whole cat back system and have my local shop do it. I really want dual tips out the back, im not a big fan of out the side. I say get the Bassani. Good luck

i havent listened to any of the ones you're talking about, but i have the flowmaster cat back, and it sounds great! i paid less than $500 for it, and i had a muffler shop install it. at idle it has that deep flowmaster gurgle. when cruising around it has a nice low throaty sound, but thanks to the 04' quiet steel interior, its not loud inside. when you stand on it, it SCREAMS! For me, (20 yrs old) the flowmaster was/is the best choice, but some find the sound to be a little too aggressive.

I just ordered the Magnaflow SI/DO for my FX4. Got it for 384 shipped from www.hottexhaust.com There is a promotion code you can enter that will knock some cash off. In my case, the code saved me 95 bucks. The code can be found on the site with a search (it's wideopen somthing)

I would, but im just not a big fan of the rolled round tips they use.

I can get the Bassani cat back dual rear exit for $600 shipped. Kinda steep, so im searching for a better price. I wish I could hear the dual rear Magnaflow
