TO: All U.S. Ford and Lincoln Mercury Dealers
SUBJECT: Label Program 04L24
2004 and 2005 Model Year F150 (Excluding 2004 Heritage)
Tire Warranty Coverage Change
PURPOSE OF THIS COMMUNICATION
The purpose of this communication is to advise dealers of a "tire warranty coverage change" that will also be communicated in Electronic Dealer Communication "2004 and 2005 MY New Vehicle Limited Warranty Change for Cars and Light Trucks" dated 12/10/2004. This change in tire warranty coverage will also be mailed to owners of 2004 and 2005 Model Year F150 (excluding 2004 Heritage vehicles).
TIRE WARRANTY COVERAGE CHANGE OWNER LETTER
The Tire Warranty Coverage Change letter will inform owners of 2004 and 2005 Model Year F150 (excluding 2004 Heritage) vehicles that the warranty limits of 12 months/12,000 miles for vibration or ride harshness and uneven or rapid tire wear, does not apply to their vehicles. These tire conditions will be covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty Bumper to Bumper Coverage period of 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever occurs first).
Owners of affected vehicles will be mailed a letter in January 2005 informing them of their enhanced tire warranty coverage and will be provided with a label to update page 9 in their Warranty Guide.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a tire warranty change only; no service action from the dealer is required for this program.

Tire warranty extended to 3yr/36k
Ford, in an attempt to futher help reduce and fix vibration complains has increase the original equipment tire warranty, for vibration, harshness, or uneven/rapid wear to 3 years or 36k miles as covered under the bumper to bumper plan. This is per a letter that I recieved in the mail this afternoon. Anyone else get/see this yet?

Tire warranty
Hi-
I mentioned this to my dealer because the BFG Rugged Trail tires on my '04 FX4 4X4 are wearing out , and he did not know anything about it. Is it possible to get a copy or to print the letter so I can show proof from Ford. The factory rep. is willing to give me 2 tires only out of a 'Good Will' gesture, when I have had tire issues from day one- All 4 tires are worn the same at 16,000 miles , and are lucky to last through the winter. It obviously is a known problem - MY original Goodyear AT/S tires were replaced at 2,700 miles due to the vibration/nibble problems, and I had already paid the optional $270 for the Goodyears-Ford did not re-imburse me when they 'downgraded' to the BFG's . Just wondered if there is other information someone may put on this site that we can take to our dealers so there is no run-arounds.

It came directly from FoMoCo. It came with a sticker addendum to the factory service manual stating the 12mo/12k tire warranty limitation does not apply for ride harshness, and uneven or rapid treadwear on the "New Style F-150 truck".

Wish that said "The owner may, upon request, substitute the crappy BFG LT tires for any tire of their choice as a good faith effort on Fords part to apologize for equipping such a fine truck with such crappy tires".

This is good news for my company. We supply Ford tires for there dealers. More recalls meen more sales.
The firestone recall rocked for us. We had to get a extra warehouse for all the tires.

Anyone get this letter from Ford?
I just this letter from Ford in the mail yesterday saying that Ford is extending the tire warranty coverage for tire vibration, ride harshness, and uneven or rapid wear from 12 months 12,000 miles to 36 months 36,000 miles. Kind of scary after the whole Firestone debacle. I have 25,000 on my truck and no problems yet but now I am going to watch my tires real close.
