I just got that letter in the mail yesterday. Looks like Ford is paying attention to the responses of problems with the vib problem.

I hear a lot of guys got the letter. If it weren't for this post on here, I would have never knew Ford extended it since I never got a letter yet from Ford. Wonder when I'll get mine?

Can someone please explain what they consider uneven/rapid treadwear (in 32nds of tread). I have got 27,000 miles and though they have worn very uneven the high side of tread only has 5/32 left. Also what are they suppose to do if they do find that the tread is considered to be defective. Not to mention that the shimmy going down the interstate is driving me bonkers. I wasn't conserned with this because I had planned on buying some 285 or 295 all terrains anyway but seeing how all the Toyo's and Nitto's are on backorder I guess I need to look into this.

Hey TXLT...

Are you the original owner of the truck? If not, you may want to make sure you're name is tied to that truck's VIN. This way when a campaign is opened, you're included within the mailings.

I had to manually add myself to my old 98 Explorer XLT and recently did the same for my wife's new 04 Eddie Bauer Explorer.

Just a thought...

I got my letter today in the mail. I haven't had any real noticeable problems yet. Only noticed a slight steering wheel nibble twice for a short distance before my first rotation. Haven't had any trouble since though.

Friday 2/11 the dealer told me they were going to replace the front tires. I got to thinking about it because I only have 6000 miles on the truck, but have vibe issues. I looked under the truck today and the "INSIDES" of both tires are worn bad. Aprox. 25-30 % of tire tread gone and very feathered. It appears like bad alignment but dealer thinks different. These tires didn't just wear abnormal. Something is causing this and I hope they address the problem or are they prepared to replace tires every 6000 miles? I haven't received the new extended tire warranty letter yet.

Letter from Ford about Tires

Got a letter from Ford the other day that included a sticker that modified my warranty manual. The letter said the tire coverage was increased from 12months/12kmi to 36mo/36kmi if I read that right. They also made reference to vibrations.

Is this due to possible vibration issues with the OEM tires?
