What the heck is this used for?

Alright i have a piece on my truck and i have seen it in a few other trucks on this site but i have been unable to figure out what it is or what it is supposed to be used for. It is to the right of the steering wheel a little below center and is about 2" in dia. and is monted to the dash. Has slots like it might be an ashtray or something but its plastic and not removable ( or i havent pulled hard enough on it). Maybe im stupid but i cant figure it out for the life of me.

it's a coin holder. Stupid, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is. Blitz is correct, it's what you get if you don't have electronic 4x4, but that's what they say it is...

Just like has been aformentioned... it's a coin holder.

Ford has a universal dash and thus, with non 4X4 trucks, they had to come up with something there to cover what would be the selector **** for the 4x4. A coin holder it is...

I think what you are talking about is the temperature sensor for the auto climate control (if you have it).

Talking

Notice how South Carolina didn't know what it was and Pennsylvania did?

Virginia seems to be the dividing line on I95 for tolls.
South of VA, no tolls.
North of VA cha-ching!.

It's a coin holder but tis annoying as hell with change in it as it rattles pretty bad. I find it's quieter to put the change in my cup holder. JMHO

anyone that lives in a big city will attest that this is a bad area for change.

When dimes and quarters are visible, the crack heads break in to nab that quarter (hey, they add up for that nights fix)

HAHA - thanks for the info guys. I originally thought it was a change holder too however, fifity cents insnt a whole lot of change. Believe it or not we acctually have a toll road here and i dont think it can even hold enough change for ours much less one of the roads up yonder.

If anyone has come up with something else to use it for please post. Or if there is anything somone can think of that would be nice to put there post that too. I'm interning as a ME in a factory so i could develop something to pay for my truck. (maybe a switch to run off road lights or something)
