Heard from a friend...

At work today he witnessed some kid at the dealer backing up an F150, and happened to back right into a 2004 Silverado Z71 in the parking lot. This is at a Ford dealer by the way.

He went over to expect major damage to both vehicles. This was correct for the silverado. It crumped the rear bumper and bed inside. About 3000$+ in damages.

The F150 had a tiny dent in the PAINTED rear bumper. About quarter sized.

If I had pics, Id post em, but thought I had to share that with you guys

Its all in the angles man.

Back into the unprotected fender area of the F150 and I'll bet you'd see the same outcome.

Sheet metal is sheet metal...

The sheet metal on the new F150 is not strong at all. The hood and both front fenders probably don't weight 20 lbs. all together. However, the frame is a tough son of a gun. As my brother repairs them at his body shop, I found them to be tough underneath and that is why I bought mine. He did find the tierods weak in an accident.

The hood is aluminum.

Haven't checked the front fenders but I believe they are steel...

Yeah the sheet metal on these things dont hold up for crap. I was backed into by a jetta going maybe 5-10mph and the jetta only got a little clear on her bumper, no dent or anything pushed in. $2500 in damage for one peice of metal, doh!
