Intake/Exhaust Questions

I'm about to go looking for a dual exhaust system to buy. I want a deep throaty feel at idle, like you'd hear out of a 64.5-69 Mustang. And something just as loud while at wide open throttle. When I purchase the exhaust system, I'm going to as well to buy an intake to match. Is there any intakes that give off a louder noise when I'm at wide open throttle.

I've spent most of my years building cars, and I know some of them which I've built the intake opens up alot of noise. And I absolutely hate that football looking baffle we have. Is there any intake system that gets rid of it?

And I'm looking to spend at most eight hundred dollars for both.

X2, this topic is covered quite often here. My advice would be to do a search (upper right of the page) in this forum for "intake" and you will find GOBS of threads relating to several intake systems for our trucks. Do the same for your exhaust. Borla, Magnaflow and flowmaster are all very popular systems here. Just do a search and read for awhile.

With 800 bux you can easily get a nice cat-back exhaust and intake. Check out Troyer Performance for great prices on both (get some great benefits for being a member here)

Goodluck

Just get rid of a muffler. run one straight pipe out the back. Running duals might sacrifice low end torque. If you want it loud, no muffler, 4" tip.

If you do the exhaust that kd is suggesting and an intake from Troyer or ebay, you can do it for 650-700 bucks...Kevin

Magnaflow cat-backs give you the highest hp & torque gains and Airaid intakes are safe for 04’s and give the best hp gains.

A word of caution
Be careful buying an aftermarket intake. Many of the products out there have little to no R/D and can cause an extremely lean A/F mixture, which can potentially blow an engine.

Check out Troyer Performance, Mike specializes in tuning F150’s; he knows his *****.
