Interesting I guess, but to some extent it is all about inertia. Heavier vehicles are less likely to do well in that particular test. The object the vehicles were crashed against was the "immovable object" type. So in the end, if you plan on crashing into a bridge abuttment, you'll fare less well than the guy in the Mini .

That just means you can by a mini and crash into anything you want, because it weighs 600lbs.

I'd like to see what happens when an F-150 hits a mini!! hahaha Now lets see those pics!!!!

The crash worthiness of the 97-03 version of the F-150 was about the only thing bad about the previous version of our truck. Ford did a great job in improving both head on and off set crash test ratings with the 04 redesign.

Actually it's probably a deformable aluminum barrier and the overall effect is equivalent to 2 F150's hitting each other offset.

The test is quite relevant.

The 2004/05 F-150's have had top scores from the insurance institute.

I went and read some of the links again and it you are right. There was one point that indicates I was partially right too though:

IMPORTANT: Frontal crash test ratings can only be compared among vehicles of similar weights. Side impact crash test ratings can be compared across vehicle type and weight categories.

So comparing the Mini to the F-150 is not entirely accurate but did make their article more colorful.

There’s gota be a little BS involved with this comparison. Where’s the front door of the mini? The photo of the mini is at a right angle where as the F150’s pic is at such an angel to maximize the visual effect to look the worst but in all fairness, I must say the mini still looks drivable with a little tug on the front fender to clear the tire.
