to Fx4 or not to
to Fx4 or not to
i have been losing a lot of sleep lately and would appreciate your guys input on my delimma.
i am a proud owner of a 2004 FX4 which i purchased in july of last year. it was a quick decision to buy it and i did it on the spare of the moment. i traded in my corvette because i was moving to wisconsin from texas and needed 4 wheel drive.
well here is my problem. i have always wanted an H2. lately i have had my eye on one and am seriously thinking of selling the FX4 so i can get the H2.
you must know that i love hummers. i almost bought one in texas, but opted to getting the corvette - only because the corvette was cheaper. what are your thoughts? i love my FX4, but for just about the same price i could have a used H2 and finally be cool. to be honest, when i test drove the H2, it reminded me of the Ford in many ways (just not so bulky and my leather seats arent heated)
can you guys help a brother out? anybody want a 2004 red FX4 with 7000 miles for blue book value?

If YOU think the H2 is cool, then you are in the minority. Most of us see it for the overpriced POS that it really is. I am an arborist by trade (tree climber) and I love it when I come up to a house and see a Hummer. It means that the owner has no perception for the value of a dollar and I can easily pad my price a little.

Back in 2003 when we were looking to get new wheels,we went to a GMC dealer ship to check out their stuff and get a look at the H2. The sellsman who waited on us told us that anyone who sold them had to go to a school on them or they couldn't sell them. The sellsman had no kind words for the H2,bad gas mileage, allways in the for something,so if we needed talk about H2's find a different sellsman.I see alot of them on the streets, but did they fix them to be better then they were in 2003 who knows. If I had the money to blow I would have one for the looks and to play with, but for a all around vel I'll stay with my SuperCrew, it makes heads turn driving it around town. But it's your money spend it and be happy if that's you want to get.
If you want to get an H2, do it. I wouldn't recommend it, but it is your money and you can waste it however you see fit. Like someone said before, what you drive doesn't make you cool. I am sure that there is someone driving a different car and thinking.... I wish that I had an FX4 so that I could be cool.

I honestly do not believe that you should pick a vehicle solely based on thinking it will make you cool. What you really need to do is decide on whether it will be a functional vehicle for you. Having never driven an H2, I cannot say it's what you need, but looking at it from a purely financial standpoint, I would not recommend trading in a functional FX4 you bought NEW in order to obtain, (IMHO) a used vehicle that I don't believe is up to par with what you already own.
Form over function in this instance...I wouldn't do it.
On a side note, my FX4 is cool as all hell.

Keep the FX4 untill the H3 is released real soon. Then youll be cool for a short while untill the novelty wears off like it already has for the H2. People are dumping the H2 for all of the above posted reasons, new ones are not selling because of the same.
Now a new 500HP LS7 corvette is another story........

well.... actually as far as being cool.... i think its the opposite... Maybe it just me but my eye catches every ford truck on the road.... especially nice FX4 and 4x4 Lariats..... though hummers do to its not for the same positive reason, i cant help to think why some "uncool" idiot would pay so much for a mutt of gm parts thrown together in order to make a profit off the once successful h1...... anyways.... As alot of already know Im still in high school, youd think anyone who has a hummer would get alot of attention for it yet 2 days after I got my truck I parked right next to the spoiled (not saying im not spoiled either consideing im driving a 2 month old truck on my parents money.... but I at least respcet my parents for it) wanna be idiot who ironically has no friends and i couldnt count how many people came up to look at it as the poor bastard in his hummer sat there by himself. The moral of the story is the vehicle doesnt make you "cool" but if your that desprite and than buy all means blow your money away!
PS - unless you can get your hands on an h1.... then we might have a different story....
ps again - has anyone seen the crap of a concept they call an h3?.... I read once in a magazine that they predict there will be an h10 based off the cavalier!!!

What we all have to remember here is that people change.... You may have liked your truck the day you bought it... But 2 weeks later you were thinkin what you should have got different.. And we are all guilty of it!! Especially after reading this forum... Just when you think "oh my god, I just spent 40k on a truck" it turns into, "oh my god I gotta spend 4-5k more worth of mods and audio equipment"!!! Or I wont be COOL!!
My only input is this.... Do what you want, you will anyway! And spend money like it grows on trees, because in some cases it does... And vehicles dont make you cool, it may make a cool first impression, but your personality takes it from there......
And by the way, the FX4 IS the coolest truck on the road!! You just dont have the personality to back it up!

I see you're getting a lot of feedback on this, mostly negative.....I'm not going to rip on you or anything like that, but in my personal opinion, I think the Hummers are ugly as all He!!, but if it's what you want, then who cares what other people think. It all boils down to personal preference, just get what'll make YOU happy. Good luck!
