If you do a you will find that Volant has trouble running a lean A/F mixture and setting a check engine light. K&N has a minor problem with the TPS (throttle position sensor) wire being a tight stretch after the throttle body is moved and Airaid seems to be the one that gives you the most hp gain and is trouble free.

Airaid!

jpdadeo is right. So far had my AirAid on for over 6 months. No lean run, easy to install, no problems period. Also makes most pony's on the 2004.

For what it is worth, Volant is "planning" to have their revised 5.4 intake available early February.

AirAid got redesigned too...

The AirAid intake for the 04 F150 got redesigned not long ago, too. They changed the indentations from being on the sides to a bigger indentation on the bottom just ahead of the TB.

Wha do you guys think about the Air Force one kit that Troyer sells? Im waiting for my Magnaflow to arrive, then I'm looking intake. Should I wait for the updated Volant?

Thumbs up Troyer rocks!

I'll be buying my intake from Troyer Performance. Mike has done the research and testing in house. I'll get either the AF1 or the Airaid intake.

AF1 isn’t available for the 3-valves yet. I’m waiting; getting one as soon as they hit the market.

what make AF1 so much better than the competition? Just the shiny intake tubes?

Cant see how one intake could have a noticable gain over another. 2hp isnt noticable. HP fluctuates with air temperature and barametric pressures everyday at least 2HP.

Airaid Update

Just a comment. I've been running the Airaid intake system for 10 months and yes I kept illuminating the dreaded "Check Engine" light. Contacted Airaid - they sent the "new" '05 designed intake tube. Installed the new tube and the light IS GONE! Airaid has solved the problem with a newly designed intake tube - it works and NO LIGHT!

Kenng,

Did you find that the 'new' revised Air raid was any quieter than the original one??

what about AEM

Alright, I know I am going to get sh*t for this one, but, after meeting the engineers and owner and touring the AEM facility a few years back, I refuse to go with anything but AEM available components. Nothing against the other companies, but AEM does their research and isnt afraid to hold a product back if it isnt perfect. AEM goes the extra mile to test their products, their competitors products, and put them on test vehicles for extended amounts of time ever before release. I would argue that they are most likely the only aftermarket company (import cars and trucks) that advertises ACTUAL HP and torque gains.

With that said, no debate over here on intakes or pulleys, I would spend the extra $100 for a Brute Force intake any day....
