Take the block out of the back and throw it away, put some real shocks on it and you'll be much happier with it.

Decreasing the ride height makes sense as it lowers the roll center of the truck which in turn helps it turn with less body roll.

Lowering the back of the truck by taking the block out does not lose ground clearance. It will however decrease the departure angle slightly.

I did the spacer block removal on my 2000 and wound up with pinion shudder so I had to get shims and put them in. Has anyone actually done the block removal and did you need shims? If so are they anything special? I read somewhere that the new trucks use two locating pins and the standard shims might not work.

I also found that the U bolts on the older style were a different size for the 4x4 and 4x2 so I had to go to a local spring shop and pick some up.

Edit:
Just had a look under the truck. The blocks are the same thickness for the entire front to back span and I seem to recall that the ones on the old truck were tapered. This might allow removal of the block and retention of the same pinion angle without the use of shims.

Thoughts?

I not only removed the blocks I installed shackles to drop it another inch to help rid the truck of the stink bug look.

The pinion angle only changed 1.1 degrees that's not much and I've had not had any vibration since I tossed the POS stock tires.

McGauheys 2/4 drop that I talked about earlier.
Just got the Street Scene mirrors put on this weeked.
Nice Truck RamSS/t, you right......wish I went with 22's I was to excited though. I had them put on right after I drove it off the car lot. Didnt put much research in it, lol.

Side pics

I will take some better ones from more angles. It was really cold out this weekend and was froze stiff from staying out there and putting those mirrors on.
You know what.....its even colder today.....but the fellow F150er Iam I will go out there an snap them side pics for ya. Just think about me when Iam out there laying on the frozen ground trying to get that perfect angle, lol.
No seriously though I want to get some better ones anyway. And since Iam off today. I think I can get that done.

Looks nice with the drop and the 20's look fine. I think is't more in the tire size you use when you go with 20's or 22's. I have a set of 20's that are 32 inch diameter and with a mild drop on the 4x4 the space from the tire to the wheel opening should be the same all the way around.

Cold - in Kentuky? we had 40 below here last week but it's warmer now.
