thoughts on caliper paint?

I was thinking of painting my brake calipers as an inexpensive mod. This always looks cool on sports cars. What are your thoughts on this? My truck is black and my wheels are black and polished aluminum. My choices look to be black, yellow and red, all of which should look better than the rust color I now have. I was thinking yellow as everyone seems to have red. I'm just wondering if this will stand out too much. Have any of you attempted this yet and if so, is it a pain in the butt or relatively easy?

Scott

Or just get a set of dust covers and no one will see your calipers and your expensive rims will stay clean (er).

If you want to do it right, have them powder coated.

I vote for red with your black truck.

I was thinking about doing the same thing but I dont want it to stand out. I think Im going with the body color if I can find some DSG paint to match the truck.

Red, looks easy enough to do. Get carbon kevlar brake pads so they don't get dusty..

I'm going to clean mine up with a die grinder real nice and have them powder coated the exact red of my FX4.

With the FX4 wheels, I think it will be just subtle enough that it will look good without being overwhelming.

Thanks for posting this thread, this is something I've been thinking about and this was just the kick in the butt I needed to put it on my to-do list.

Like DZ specified, thats the time to go ahead and put on new pads.

Does anybody have any opinions on the factory brake lines? Good enough with the stock calipers or recommended to upgrade?

Once in a while they need to be scrubbed down but they look great.

I can't believe someone hasn't already said it, but in my opinion the painted calipers are more for sports cars or the rice crowd.

But, it is your truck, so do whatever you want.

Why would you say that? Because you saw them on a rice burner or corvette before you saw them on a truck. So I guess we shouldn't tint our windows either, or add chrome dual exhaust, or fuzzy dice on the mirror

I am doing the red calipers as soon as I find some free time!

Yes, I'd do the red too, but I'm gonna end up getting mine color matched for my truck.

I suggest that you try to match the color of your truck if you're going to do it. By the way, this is not a rice mod!! JP

I guess I am not entitled to my opinion. Maybe next time I will just not post if I feel that it is in opposition to what others believe.

It looks good on most of the trucks that I have seen, but I will not be doing it to mine.
