Thanks for all the input.... I have made up my mind after 3 restless nights....

The verdict is...

I am going to advertise my Chebby for $1000 more than high blue book... $29,000.

By the way I am a very devout religous christian and if someone buys my truck for way too much then I figure it is a God thing and I will then have to buy a new FORD.

Black/tan
Lariat SCAB
4x4
heated bucket seats
audiophile
rss
black running board
power slider
3.73 LS diff
upgrade tires
tow package
homelink
skid plates

it MSRPs for $38,500

x-plan for $34,000

ttl for 36500sh

rebates for 34000sh

I write a check for $5000

done deal!!!!

That would not work in WI. We pay sales tax on sales price - trade in value. That means you would get $1000 more for your truck, but end up paying 5% more sales tax on the $29,000. It's an advantage the dealer has in offering for your trade. The extra sales tax, without a trade, would be a bit over $1400.

If your bottom line is 5k, then why don't you just make that offer to the dealer. If he takes it, you are in, if not, find another deaaler and make the offer until you have your truck.

The truck you listed is similar to the one at Woodhouse ford. You would have to take some hail damge, but they will be able to match your price on it. Worth a call, but it is a long drive.

I'd buy it.

You may as well drive what you want. I have pretty much decided that I'll always have a truck payment. With rates as low as they are, I'll just trade up every 3 years or so.

Good luck getting 29,000 for your 03 Silverado Z71. The local dealers here are offering brand new ones not much more than that and I am talking about 05 models. Not to mention the low rates on new vehicle buys. I tell you I love my F150 but if I had a 03 Chevy paid for I would definately love it more.

IWanna04F150 did you ever check this video out, The Truth About Ford Trucks! This might help you make up your mind and possibly get your wife’s support when you and her see how well the Fords are built and how much safer they are to drive

I'm in the same boat with my 01 Ford.

It's tough working with a trade because the rebates and cash are not clear. Ford moves them around like it's a shell game, and the dealer conceals them hoping to pocket them himslef.

Then they offer more for your trade along with a higher price on the new one, or discount the new one along with discounting your trade.

It's a good thing it's cold outside and I nothing better to do.

Does anybody realy know what the current rebates are for the 04 and 05 in their zipcode?

I'm in a similar boat, also in wisconsin. It pretty much seems if you have a trade you're screwed.

I don't agree with this logic. You simply tell the salesman to make it two seperate deals: 1) what will they give you for your trade; and 2)what is the price of the new vehicle. If you are not happy with what they will give you for your trade, then go sell it yourself. If they start using terms like 'trade difference' or other confusing lingo, just ask them very simply to break it down into the two items above. You have no one else to blame but yourself for feeling you got screwed.

On a side note, I picked my truck last Friday and there is a new incentive (in addition to the rebates or low financing) when you buy a F150. I got free service for 26,000 miles or 2 years. Every 5000 mile checkup/oil change is free. Even the 15,000 mile checkup is free. No maintenance costs for two years - pretty sweet. But this deal will end soon I think. Check with your local dealer.

Was that offered by FoMoCo or your local stealership? I've never heard of that one...

According to the paper there is $1000 Ford Credit Holiday Cash, and $1000 owner loyalty cash (98 or newer Ford,) and according to the TV ad I say yesterday the Tow and Go package is still available. Plus there is a $500 military, $750 off lease renewal,

And don't forget that invoice may not reflect factory holdback and dealer incentives. As always you can "see dealer for details," but not all dealers agree. Here is one ad in Sunday's paper:

F150 pickup
MSRP 23110
$1,845 Special Ford factory rebate
$2,000 Ford factory rebate
$1,000 Owner loyalty rebate
$ 500 FMCC bonus rebate
$ 500 Military rebate
$3,278 Discount
$13,995

Who can make sense of it all? Am I a slow learner, alone in my clue-less confusion?

2-year/26,000-mile Quality Care Premium Maintenance Plan provided by the WI-UP FDAF on new 2004/2005 Ford Division vehicles excluding GT, Mustang, Super Duty and Diesel Excrusion.

I did see the list, it included oil changes, wiper blades, front and rear break pads, tire rotation, and air filter. At least that is what I remember off the top of my head. Total value $550.

this is what the 15000 mile maintenance check up consist of

Change engine oil and replace oil filter
Inspect engine cooling system and hoses
Inspect brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, brake lines and hoses, and parking brake system
Perform multi-point inspection
Rotate tires for optimal tire life
Inspect wheel ends for end play and noise
Inspect and lubricate steering linkage, ball joints, suspension and, if equipped, half shafts drive shaft and u-joints

You can look at all the recommended maintenance on this page http://www.genuineflmservice.com/

I got free lifetime oil changes and tire rotations from my dealership but I have to keep up to date on all maintenance through them to get it.
