If you can handle the payments go for it, you only live once,
my belief is get what you want in life, for when you get older
you can only say I should have.

I go through every day reading about FORD pricing FORD dreaming FORD... I wanted a FORD in the first place but settled for a Chevy because it had a couple more inches in the back in the '03 model F150. Now the newer F150's have more space than the Chevy's in the SCAB... I also wanted a Lariat because of all the goodies. If I wait to buy until a later date then my trade-in won't be worth $22,000, the '05's, '06's, '07s aren't gonna get any cheaper... I'm not going tobe making any more money in 3 years, (I am a teacher... in CA... that menas no raises to speak of) The way I figure it is I could either be spending $250 a month on a truck I like or $250 a month to just wait for 10 - 15 years for the truck I like. hmphhhhhhhhhh.

I had to wait 20 years for my new Lariat I got the one I wanted custom ordered from Kansas City. I remember going to the store with the wife and my 20 year old truck backfired (scared the crap out of her). She said "you need a new truck"

I hope your wife sees it your way, because it sounds like you have your mind made up. Get the truck you want and get an '05 if you can swing it. I have no problems with my truck and I'm really enjoying it.

Good luck sir,

BTW- My wife is a teacher

Oh man you guys are going to have this dude in the doghouse for a long time. If the wife says no ya better stick with what ya got or else she will make life rough on you in one way or another. Its easy for us guys to spend your money by telling you to go for it, but also its not us paying for it...... I still say keep the Chevy you have a very good truck right now.

What kind of milage are you getting?..I traded my chevy ,that was paid off because I was only getting 15 mpg. This ford is only giving 15 but the ride is much better and its a lot bigger truck and you really feel safe in it..

Or I could use some of my left over from a house loan and pay $100 a month for the next 30 years.

By the way my wife says to not get into more debt. We have a $1000 mortgage and I make $3500 a month.

Should I tell her that my Chevy is a lemon and that I HAVE to get a new truck?
It sounds to me like you refinanced your house, got more money as a second mortgage, and paid your chevy off. How else would you have it paid off making $3500/month? If this is the case, keep the chevy, because it's not really paid off. My .02

Put a small amount of money into tricking out your chevy. And don't go near any dealerships till you get over new truckitis.

Well the smart thing would be to keep your truck, but the new F150 is the best truck out right now and if you enjoy driving you will want to switch. Just remeber you only live once. And if you need to save money, try cutting back on something else you dont really need.
Just my 2 cents.

P.S. If you get the truck and your wife gets mad, your new truck will be more than a comfortable place to sleep, especially with heated seats.

The screwy thing is that I wanted a 2004 last July but they weren't out yet and the '03's were just too small. So I got a Chevy.... I like the truck and all but I know I would like the F150 longer and better.

Maybe I could sell the Chevy... lease a new FORD... Use equity from the Chevy to make payments for the next 3 years... Purchase the FORD in 3 years when I would have naturally bought a new vehicle anyway.

Any of you lease your trucks??? Any hidden things to worry about?

Man you got it bad.... Truckitis that is..... I would not lease if I was you if you just must have this truck then buy it. I tell you another option ask the dealer to let you drive it one weekend and see if by the end of the weekend you still just have to have it. Sometimes its just a spur thing.....

Yes, and that is a bad plan! Leasing can be less costly than trading in every few years, but it is still expensive. If residuals are high you get a better lease rate, but you'll pay more for the truck at the end of the lease. If they are low, your monthly payment can be almost as high as owning it, but your payout is less at the end. Right now the residuals are low.

Remember, at the end of a lease you own nothing, and have to buy something at any price.

Ok sell the chevy and then get the F150 better plan I am sure someone is willing to pay what you would be asking.

If you try that then I say go for it but if you are not getting a KR then go for an 04 same truck just get the rebates.
