Plans for my '05 FX4 (Questions)

Hey all - just picked up my '05 FX4 tonight and I'm lovin' it, though I was sorry to get rid of the Stang.

Will post pics when I steal my gf's digital camera.

In any case, I have a few questions and I am seeking suggestions.

1) I have the audiophile package, but no DVD player. From what I've read, it seems that only the Ford DVD player can make use of the AUX? I really want to get Sirius AND hook up my Dell DJ (iPod-like) with some sort of selector. I was impressed with the sound quality of the stock audiophile system, and would hate to ruin it by running the Sirius and DJ through an FM modulator... Any suggestions? I wouldn't be opposed to swapping out the 6-disc changer for an in-dash flip out DVD player + NAV system with two aux-in ports on the back, but I know not where to start...

2) I really would like to make this thing a true dual-exhaust with twin 3" chrome tips shooting out of the back of it, and a couple of mufflers that will give me some more flow and a sweet growl. Suggestions?

3) Remote Start. What kits do you all recommend?

4) I ski, snowboard, and mountain bike and will be abusing the bed with sharp equipment. Rhino-lining? Better? Should I get some kind of cover? What kind of cover would allow the mtn. bike, but not lose the sporty, aggressive look of the FX4?

Appreciate any ideas/suggestions.

Thanks,

Dev

Welcome to the site..
Congrats on the new truck..
The sirius system is great IF you actually use your truck enough that you can enjoy all the channels ( otherwise there's nothing
wrong with the stock 6 cd player ) I don't know where you got the courage to use ANYTHING Dell would make ( that's brave )
Magnaflow makes an excellent exhaust ( unless the louder growl is your thing then there are a couple other excellent ones. do a search )
Rhino liners take abuse well ...
And please wear a helmet when you ski and snowboard...
there are some good ones out there BUT Leedom Helmets are
the best. ( Gyro just sells more BUT they really do S*** )

Thanks for the response and warm welcome.

I put 93,000 miles on my Stang in 4 years. I am certainly in my car enough to enjoy the sat, though I hope I don't have to beat on the FX4 like that and am able to move closer to work soon.

The Dell DJ actually has twice the battery life of the iPod, and the interface is not as bad as everyone says. The price is certainly right as well. I like it, though I understand where you are coming from with Dell selling junk.

Helmets are fine for the terrain park, but I'll take my chances with becoming the special kid otherwise...

Congrats on the truck. 3" exhaust may be a little to much for these trucks. You'll loose alot of backpressure and bottom end. These trucks are so heavy I think you'll need all the bottom end torque you can get, so I'd stick with 2-1/2". But that's just me.
Oh and btw, Hey man, I have a Dell computer and it's not junk??? There's nothing wrong with Dell stuff man. It's their customer service that sucks. Right? Right.

Hahahaha. I roll my own computer systems and push them to the limits. Dell's actual memory bandwidth vs. what they claim is always a little off on the Desktop/Laptop side of the house, and their system cooling is insufficient for power users. Their servers also have heat problems and break a lot in my experience. Also, they use the bare minimum in power supply capabilities.

No he wasn't. He was ( operative word WAS ) just one of the many who didn't take the most important things seriously enough.

I was laughing at the way dev was non chalantly dismissing the
helmet issue.. I ( and i represent i in this scenario ) am the
Distribution Manager for Leedom Helmets ( which is why i brought
them up in my initial reply ) I take safety VERY seriously BUT you
cannot take everyone by the hand and make them do things a
certain way ( though we all probably wish we could ) If people
don't want to wear a helmet then they won't, those who do will
survive some wrecks easier than others but even with a helmet
on you can STILL snap your neck ( then it doesn't matter at all )
