WIndshield wind noise

It's been talked about before, but not recently. I have 23,000 miles on my truck and have had it for a year. About a month ago, I developed a wind noise from the windshield.

Has anyone had their dealer fix this? It's not that big of a deal, but as quiet as this thing was before, it's really bugging me.

Mine had wind noise at 40 MPH + from the top of the windshield. Mine was silent for the first two or three months I had it and then the noise started. I took it in and they "resealed" the windshield that seemed to have taken care of it. I am still a little suspicious of it though, as it seems to be coming back.
At first, my dealer said that they couldn't hear anything. I asked him to personally drive it on the highway and call me back. After that, he said he'd take care of it. Don't let them tell you it's normal.

I had a lot of wind noise coming from the windshield. I took it in, had a test drive on a highway to confirm it, and it was confirmed. I don't know how they did it, but they told me to wait in the waiting room as they re-sealed the window. (only took 15 minutes somehow) So I take it by myself now after thinking everythings fixed, right back on the highway and still bad as ever! I took it right back to the dealer and test drove it again with the guy, and to realize, it was my darn bug shield up front. He took it off, wnet back on the highway we go. Silent as ever! I couldn't believe a bug sheild made so much wind noise!

I've got about 19,000 miles on mine and at about 15,000 miles I noticed a wind noise at speeds over 45. I can't seem to tell where it's coming from though. I checked around the window, and I don't see anything loose.

Do You guys think that maybe were just getting so used to how quite these trucks are that were starting to hear everything now?

Windshield

I had what I thought was a rattle coming from the passenger side dash area and had the dealer check it out at my 30k maintenance. The service advisor advised me that they had resealed the windshield. I no longer have the problem so that must have been the culprit. It sure sounded like there was something loose in the dash at freeway speeds. Now all I have is the wind noise coming from the doors but the truck has always had this. The windshield noise was driving me nuts though and I am glad its gone.

Doubtful, but I understand what you're saying.

Since these trucks are so quiet, I would have noticed it before I did. It just up and started doing it one day.

The wind noise is probably coming from the small gap between the metal trim piece that runs across the top of the windshield and the glass. That's where mine was coming from and the dealer wouldn't seal around the trim piece, they just did it from inside the truck and that didn't fix the problem. I ran a very small bead of black silicone sealant between the trim piece and the windshield and the noise has been completely gone now since mid December. You can prove that it is coming from that area first by running a piece of masking tape across the gap and then go drive the truck and see if the noise is gone. This topic was covered about a month ago on this site and the "other" F-150 site and several people fixed their truck the same way.

I've had the same problem as well. It started when the weather was getting colder here in Dallas. Now that it has been warming up a bit, the noise is not as noticeable. I thought about taking it in for this, but will probably mention it next time I am at the dealer. The truck has 12k miles and was purchased in Nov. '03. It was silent last winter. Who knows... I just turn the radio up a bit more now.

Other than this, my truck is perfect in every other way, shape, and form!!! I still stare at it and

I called my insurance agent in November to remove my DSB buyback 04-F150 from my insurance policy. He asked me if I knew anything about a windshield wind leak problem he was having on is 04 Screw. I gave him a few pages of info from this and other web sites and he took it to the dealer but the service manager would do nothing about it. He called me last week, a rock hit his windshield and he had to pay to have it replaced. After the new windshield was install the wind noise was gone, problem solved. Now he is going to send Ford the bill and a very nasty letter.

This is a great tip for diagnosing if there are body sealing problems.

Remember, your bug shield affects flow all along the hood and windshield.
