New here !
I've never had a new Ford. I just got a new 05 F150 crew Lariat 4x4. I've been a Ford guy all my life. I do have a 65 Mustang with a built 351w in it. I can work on that all day, this new truck I opened the hood and just shut it right away.
So I don't know how they are about customers adding on,or changing parts I.E. cold air system, cat back exhaust, shocks, etc.
Also I know little to nothing about the 5.4 motor. Does any one know of any good books on it, or better yet websites. Where I could learn more about the workings of the motor, and how it response to add ons ?
I'll have plenty more questions, so I hope you all don't mind.
Thanks Ron

Welcome...
You have found the source to all of your questions. I've been here for several months and almost everyday I am amazed to what information I find when doing a search or just checking in during lunch to see what new threads have popped in.
When you get a chance, post some pics of the ride and don't forget the Mustang...

I've owned a 5.4 for 2 months. So far I've learned:
1) NEVER hose down the motor with water. It will puddle around the plugs and new plugs and coil packs can get expensive.
2) Regardless of what weight oil you have used in the past in other motors, stick with 5w-20 for this truck. Not 10w-30, not 15w-40 but 5w-20. If you forget, look at the oil cap where it says to only use 5w-20.
3) Buy a tuner. Either Predator or Superchips are good units, but buy a tuner. Just the improved shifting is worth the $350, before you consider the performance gains and code reading abilities.
This engine is capable of running for a long time if I don't screw it up. So the less I do to it the better. I've wrenched on engines all my life and it's nice to have one that doesn't need wrenching. If it's half as reliable as my 94 Ranger 4.0 then I'll be very pleased.

F150 and Mustangs!
It's a 69 351w now it has the RPM 2.02 heads and a mild cam. I have raced it at Fallon NV. Fun car, I didn't restore just tried to make it look better and run faster.
I do have the stock 69 heads still.
I don't now how to post pictures yet.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
If you ever decide to drop kick those heads, PLEASE give me a chance to take them off your hands! Those are the smallest stock chambered heads ford made for the 351 back then! I don't have a smallblock anymore, but when the pony I'm doing now is done, I plan on grabbing a 67 fastback with a 289, and would love to have those heads!
Anyway, for the truck, go to the photo gallery section, and create your own. It's an easy process, and after seeing your mustang gallery on the other site, you should just walk through the process. Then, just copy the address, and paste it to a post, and then we can link to it.
If you need any help, just ask!

Ahhhh, pictures can be challenging. First, you need to set up your gallery (unless you have somewhere else where you can get your pictures hosted on the web). Be sure to bookmark your gallery website address so you can get back to it later. Upload whatever pictures you like from your computer to your gallery. Then when you want to post a picture in a thread- go to your gallery, right click on the picture, choose 'properties', copy the web address of the actual picture (highlight, right click, choose 'copy'). Then when composing your post you click the 'IMG' button and paste the address of your picture. Notice that the box for the picture address will already have the 'http://' and you will need to erase that since having it twice will create an illegitimate web address.
Geez, you figure it would be easier than all this crap but it isn't.

The heads are well used but in good shape. They need to be rebuilt. If you'd like to buy them just make me an offer.
The pictures of my Mustang were posted by someone else not me. I know very little to nothing about computers
