Airaid Intake
i've got one on my 03 5.4l, love it, you can really hear it whoop when you get on the gas! easy install too. the hardest thing was getting a hose off. i had to soak it in hot water, which the instuctions will tell you, but still a pain, but that was it. KnN is good also. i like the way they 'whistle' when you gas it up! but i love my airraid!
yep either the custom tuner or the 1714 micro tuner from troyer. Mention that your a member of this site and get a discount. That airraid really isnt gonna do much cept make some noise until u tune it. Even then its not gonna do much, thats just my opinion tho, others disagree.

I agree with jpdadeo, go with a Tuner first, whether it be the Superchips 1714, or the XCalibrator the he linked to, they will both give nice gains, with the XCalibrator being the better of the two. I might add that adding the intake and exhaust together is probably the best way to go, as more air in needs to be able to get out, and the two will compliment each other. I did my intake before I did my exhaust, and I really noticed a difference when I put the exhaust on, Magnaflow Dual Rear Exit. Anyway, I would suggest getting a tuner first. If you can't afford the XCalibrator, there is a substantial discount from Troyer's for the 1714 for f150online members. That would be the first mod, and then save for the exhaust and intake. Just my .02.

The tuner will correct all the things you find objectionable about your 150. The intake, exhaust and other things are the icing!
I've been running completely stock tuning for about a week now and I have the intake plus magnaflow and the truck still sounds nice and makes like a BIG four barrel carb sound but it don't get down and go! Not like the 91 tow/perf I had in the PCM before I changed it back.
My Xcalibrator is in the mail! Hoo Ha

I was told by a mechanic friend at the ford dealer to stay away from the Airaid-type aftermarket intakes, because they're finding that they don't seal properly when the motor flexes under acceleration. I guess they've found problems with dirt and debris in the throttle body from the intakes leaking like this.
I'm not flaming anyone for having one, just passing on what I was told by a relaible source...
I think I'll just stick with a K&N filter in the stock airbox myself.

My first mod was the Borla exhaust then I just downloaded the 87 Octane tune from the 1714 made a trip up and down the highway then put on the airaid. When you step into it you will hear it. Sounds pretty good. As far as performance I don't know. If I were you I would start off with the superchips tuner then the exhaust if you want to notice an improvement on performance. Just my 2 cents.
