autospring price.

Called up autospring today to get a 2 inch kit and the install cause I live close to them. Got them to 115 for the kit then 100 for the install. Is 100 dollars good price for the install or should I try to get it lower?

If you have any knowledge of tools and the way they work... Print out the install directions found on this forum, grab a 12 pack and a friend and diy.... Then your the only person to blame if something goes wrong, or you know its done right..... Very simple install..... If you have a 1/2 brain..... just 1/2...not a whole

NO NO NO dont use a ball joint tool!!! Use a hammer and hit the control arm right in that flat area where the ball joint goes thru.... 3-4 hits and it falls right out....
DO NOT USE A BALL JOINT SEPERATER!!!!

And the tool you need that most people dont have, and cant get at the local hardware store, is the 30mm deep well socket you need to get the lower stru bolt out..... And a good impact wrench to put it back on.....

Yea, don't use a ball joint separator. Me with half a brain tore my ball joint boots with a ball joint seperator:o (had to purchase new control arms just to get the new boots!) The ball joints are welded to the control arms. The boots are not available as a service part. I still couldn't complete the install, so I took the spacers back out, because my truck kept lifting off the floor jacks when I tried to bring up the lower control arms. Recently, a member on the forum suggested doing one side at a time with the full weight on the ground on the opposite side.
I may attempt the install again, maybe with a buddies help.

You must have the 2 1/2" kit??? 2" kit worked fine. You cant jack the truck up without it lifting off the stands or the lift for that matter...Here is the trick, you need to use a bf pry bar between the coils on the spring to get the knuckle back into place, and while someone is holding that pry bar, put the upper ball joint back in and screw that nut on as far as it will go, then let your open-end wrench or impact gun put the nut all the way back on....

I used a big vise grips clamp to squeeze the upper arm to the spindle.

I've got the 2" version. I thought of using coil compressors. I would compress the coils, put the upper back together, then release the coil compressors. I need to see if I'll have enough room to remove the compressors after the upper control arm is bolted back in place. Maybe this will work??
