I haven't noticed, haven't looked, and don't feel like moving from this chair to look. I didn't realize you guys watch "Queer Eye for the Truck Guy!" Anyone here still see a TRUCK as a TRUCK?!

Your not seriously judging the durability of the truck by the shape your keys are in, are you?

If FoMoCo uses cheap/low quality materials in the key, why wouldn't they use the same quality materials in the rest of the truck?

The motor in my '99 was so gutless it wouldn't maintain speed while driving into the wind. My '00 started rusting before it was a year old. My '01 slapped like a jackhammer at 35,000 miles. And my '02 blew a sparkplug at 68,000 miles. If the competition made a better truck I would buy it, but right now, I am stuck with Ford and their crappy keys.

Sounds like you're just looking for something to complain about, and all you could come up with is crappy keys? Give me a break.

If there was one place I could accept cost cutting it would be the keys. What is it like 6 bucks to replace a worn out key? I can't believe your taking this so seriously.

My key looks like the picture and it is only a few weeks old. My F150 '01 key looked great right up until I sold it. The new 150 '05 key isn't even a few weeks old and it looks like shi@! Ford went with some cheap soft plastic I guess.

Opie,

Four F150s with all those complaints and you are upset about the quality of the keys...

Sounds like it might be time for you to try buying a different brand of truck.

I am on my fourth F150 and figure I'll probably have one or two more before I am done.

I agree, can't wait to what's next. Maybe the floor mats, or maybe the chrome trim ring around the A/C vents.

Curious...did they start putting the blue logo in the keys after I got mine in March 2004?...or is it just on certain models? I have the Lariat. Just wondering. I thought they were all black like mine.

lariatf150,

I think a factory or dealership worker/salesman said that JOB1 (1st 1/2 of production run) got the Ford blue insert and JOB2 (2nd half) got the plain ones. My 2004 FX4 was built in JUN 04 and I got the all black ones.

The blue one is nicer - but they are just keys. I ordered two extras off Ebay and they don't even say Ford on them.

I can't believe the complaining going on about 'key wear' when I have a serious issue with my truck.

Something has splattered all over my vanity plate.
I don't know whether it was a pregnant moth or I caught a small toad in mid-hop but, the plate is a mess!

I paid extra money for this vanity plate and as it is now no one can see the vanity. I know they can still see the rear plate but, by then they can't see me nor do I even know if I've been seen.
What good is a vanity plate if you cannot be associated with the vanity?

This is a damn serious problem.
(now don't you feel ridiculous complaining about a key)

p.s
Go check your front plate, no telling how long I've been driving around like this.
