YOMAN - You have the XV's?

Do you notice a differene and do you think it's worth the money?

In my opinion the 04 F-150 factory headlights even with foglights on isn't as bright as my past vehicles.

I thought the 04s used a 9008 bulb. Is a H13 the same thing?

9008s is NOT avaiable by Silverstar or whatever..

Only aiavable is XV or stock H13 ( kind of same as 9008s)

Ford incorrectly identifies the headlights as 9008 in the owners manual. H13 is the correct identification.

Oh how I miss my Xenarcs...

None the less, do you continue to have the same opinion about the XV/SS combo Yoman? I'm thinking I'm going to go this route as well in the immediate future.

Where are you getting these bulbs from? I even checked eBay to no avail.

The NHTSA is cracking down on these bright bulb manufacturers one at a time. Every manufacturer investigated so far has ended up being forced to recall the lights.

Uhhhh Question?

Not haveing these bright whites on my ride and being the recipient of the brighter than bright light in my eyes at night the question is?? How can you stand to look into these from and oncomming vehicle.

I also believe that many vehicles have not had their lights aligned and are way to high even on lowbeam. I'm sure there is a limit standard in the vehicle codes that limit the light power that is allowed. But as in may instances, the Highway Patrol or what ever you have in your state is way too busy to go around and check out light aligmnment or brightness..

But I'm getting to be an old geezer and the high bright light kinda gets to me. No offense meant here.

HR:

Agreed. There are oodles of folks who upgrade to bright white lighting that have no business utilizing such a resource. Simply put, they are making it harder on those of us who wish to use them as we consider them more of a safety factor than a 'bling bling' factor.

I found that, during the short time I had silverstars installed on my old 2001 (prior to going with a HID kit specifically made for my old F-150 -- the Xenarc kit), the light was more crisp, items appeared more clearly, and I was able to be a safer driver. But, of course, I didn't go and tweak my alignment from what how it was set when I bought my truck.

High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting is a whole other story when it comes to the lighting world as those are easily abused more so than standard bulb upgrades and have ultimately been the first domino that started the government inquiries into bulb manufacturing. As I mentioned, I had an HID setup on my last truck and can't recall a SINGLE instance of having someone 'flash' their lights at me. They were, by far, the safest headlights I've ever utilized.

It's a double edged sword and, like many things, those who abused it are causing those of us that utilized it to suffer.
