Folding mirrors

OK, who is the first to do the install on an '04 who will document it and post the pics so we can see if it is as easy as it should be?

Mine came from the factory with folding mirrors, I just get out and push them in. Ohhh, do you mean "Power" folding mirrors?

Sorry, I don't mean to be a wise a$$, sometimes I just can't help it.

One guy had his dealer attempt it, only to say "Not gonna happen" and return his money. I'd like to give it a whirl, but am waiting to find cheaper prices instead of getting raped by the dealer...

Question

I bought a F150 2005 Lariat and plan to put power folding mirrors on the truck. I will be visiting the dealer this weekend to see if it is possible to purchase a set of F150 King Ranch Mirrors which are power folding and have them mounted on the Lariat. I'll let you know how it goes. I hope it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.

You might want to take an extra arm and leg when you make your way to the dealer...

Yeah, keep us updated.......I don't like having to roll my window down and pull in my mirror to back my truck in the garage. It would be nice to keep the rain and the cold out.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...at least your truck fits in your garage.

Well I purchased a power folding mirror for my F150 2005 Screw Lariat. Spoke to a few dealers and neither could offer any sound advice if it would work. Dealers in my area are not to frienldy when it comes to showing the shop manuals.

Well I paid $195 for the drivers side mirror and its not returnable! Has puddle lamb, heatd, etc. - the one that should have come with our trucks but ended up on the King Ranch! I didn't buy a passenger side yet as I don't want to be out another $100+ bucks. Aslo, for some reason the driver side cost more than the passenger side. I guess Ford thinks that mirror is more important - go figure.

I sure hope this works. The part came in today. I plan to install this weekend. I will post the install after it is completed but if anybody has any special picture requests I will try to accomodate. If it doesn't go well I have a Power Folding Mirror for sale!

b.

IS there a different mirror control that makes the mirrors fold up???

Is it something that replaces the one on the arm rest now or is it in addition to that...?

They came standard on my 05 KR. Maybe the part number could be used to order them for the other models. The control *** looks to be the same. fwiw.

How complete is the new mirror in the box? Does it just come with harness, or switch?
I am thinking of getting one for my STX, but I don't have power mirrors, so some mod would have to be done. If the folding mirror came with the adjustment switch it would make for a sweet mod.

Is the mirror up for sale yet? Just kidding...hopefully you can make it work, if not it is still possible to make it work; just few more wiring/relay..etc. I am working on Mercedez-Benz style turn signal lamp on it now (80% done with project)...was going to install puddle lamp (cause I saw the opening at the bottom) I guess I can go to a dealer and buy just the lens for it. Can U post some pictures of the actually puddle lamp area....like to get some ideas. Thanks

I thought about doing just the drivers side mirror, but I saw how much the KR mirrors cost Someday, maybe I'll make the switch.

I'm used to folding my drivers side mirror in now.

Unhappy

Power Folding Mirrors on a 2005 F150 King Ranch SuperCrew will NOT work on a 2005 F150 Lariat SuperCrew.

If anyone out there has wiring information regarding power folding mirrors found on a 2005 King Ranch and a 2005 Lariat I would sure love to hear from you. I left the power folding mirror on the door hoping to revisit this after some research. The connection on the power folding mirror has 4 additional pins. I suspect one pin is for the puddle lamp, one pin for fold, one pin to retract. Just don't know. It goes to chow you the Ford will do whatever is necessary to force people to buy the most expensive car. One would have thought that the wiring harness would eb the same of a King Ranch/Lariat. Well, that is not the case.

Please check out my gallary for photos of the mirror connection. Gallery also has pictues of the window controls, etc.

Looking forward to some wiring information.

Good work - I looked at your pics and they are the most informative info I've seen yet. It almost seems like we need to order the parts that you have - PF mirrors, switches and switch plugs and take everything to someone with the electrical savvy to figure out how to wire the components up. Then do a group purchase of the components and draw up installation instructions. Guess Ford doesn't want to do it. I bet that there are hundreds of F 150 owners who would buy a reasonably priced package [no more than $300]

GM's PFM option is $200 - wonder if it would work on a F150? Maybe the option is made by the same manufacturer?
