Mine went into failsafe mode 3 or 4 times during the summer. Took it to the dealer and they flashed the computer with a new program and its been fine ever since. 15000 KM now....

As much as it's an inconvenience, what if something were truly wrong and the failsafe just saved you an engine rebuild?

Was it normal driving when failsafe mode came on? Even so a new car shouldn't be overheating in the first place. I would be pissed off.

Mine has gone into failsafe mode once but that was because a spark plug decided to self destruct!

Had it happen once. The code indicated a hiccup in the throttle body assembly (to sensitive). They were just going to do a reflash, but they decided to make sure the problem didn't come back. They put on a new throttle body assembly and did the reflash. No problems since then.

Mine went into failsafe once this past summer. I took it to the dealer and they reflashed it with new code. It has been good ever since the reflash.

Its gone into failsafe right after startup. so i shut it off restarted and it went away. I have the superchips tuner 1714 and returned the truck to the stock program. If they do a reflash will my tuner still work or will it need an update from superchips?

I read a post in the “Computer Chips” forum that referred to “failsafe” and custom tuning. It said that some trucks that had the PCM dealer re-flash didn’t work right and went into failsafe mode upon startup. Maybe this is your problem, I don’t know just throwing it out there for your information.
