Tailgate seal to keep water, dirty etc out???

I have Accesscover and loving it....I checked their website for "trailseal" but its MRSP- $30 bucks.

I just wonder if Home Depot or any Hardware store has weather strip that similar to Trailseal a bit cheaper for our truck tailgate ??

any tips or suggest ??

Thanks!

I tried to find something at Homer for the same reason, but could not find a seal material (with adhesive tape) that was made substantial for the job. I ended up paying $21 (free shipping) from a tonneau cover website for some generic bed seal material, but am not that thrilled with it's performance thus far. The two vertical strips are fine, but the adhesive is already starting to pull away from the truck on the horizontal run across the bottom.

I am thinking I should have gone with Extang's new bed seal, as it looks a bit more substantial that what I got but it is quite a bit more expensive.

^yeah it makes it harder to close the tailgate, especially too if you have a bedliner and install the seal overtop of it. What I did was closed my tailgate, looked down from the inside and see where I see gaps/light coming through, and that's where I cut and installed parts of the seal gasket.

I've been thinking about trying one of the 'gate gaskets'. Anyone buy one and how do you like it?

I got one for my truck and it works great. I've had it on for about 2 months now and no problems. You barely even notice it with the tailgate down on my truck. At first it made the tailgate a little hard to close which did concern me. But once it was on there with the gate closed for about a week, it was no problem at all. Seals very nicely and the 3M adhesive does its job. You just have to make sure you do the appropriate surface prep prior to applying the adhesive. No dust or water in my bed when combined with my ARE tonneau. Well worthe $30 IMO.

I have the same seal from Retrax, but have found that after a month or so of opening and closing the tailgate, that goes away...the seal has formed itself to my tailgate and isn't particularly hard to close any longer.

I'm in the rainy season in Seattle and my bed has stayed dry as a bone with the combination Retrax cover and tailgate seal.

Though I haven't purchased it for my F150, check out page 6 of the Moss Motors catalog (aka F150store.com). It's part #335-235 $19.95.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone have a picture of what the Home Depot seal looks like? Also, what section of Home Depot did you find it in?
