2004 screw water leak
2004 screw water leak
Ive got a 2004 screw with barely 5000 miles on it and ive noticed a water leak in the cab in the front passenger footwell. Has anyone else experienced this? Im taking it in to the deal to have this dealt with. The whole floor and mat is soaked, it doesnt smell like anything. Its definitely not air conditioning. cause it hasnt been warm enough for it here in Chicago.
Any comments are appreciated.

I noticed the same type of thing yesterday when I was getting into my fuse box. the carpet wasnt all wet though, it was just wet around this foam seal on the fire wall that looks like it may be a pipe to the heater core. I figure im due for its first oil change so I will have the dealer take a look.
If you look at the black plastic step strip, theres only small amount of foam padding that surround clips, these clips go into holes an inch long, these are holes to the outside. If you go in wet weather, they may leak.
No.. nothing extremely wet about the weather out here.. typical chicago weather.. sunny, not a whole lot of rain when i noticed this.. the day was rather dry for a few days.. although i did hear what sounded like water shoshing around in the cab somewhere, but i could not pinpoint its place.
Take your truck to your dealer. I have a 04 Screw and it had a leak on the A pilar. There is a service bulitin out about the windshelds , some didnt seal properly at the factory. As a matter of fact they are about to put windshield #2 in my truck as the first one they changed still leaks!
Passenger side Water Leak
First time post: F-150 XLT 4x4 5.4 Triton V8 Styleside 5000 miles
Recently I was vacuuming my truck when I noticed the same thing, wet carpet on passenger side floorboard, no color, no stain, no smell.
I immediately delivered it to the service department on monday. (11/15/04) Tuesday the service dept. mgr. informed me the leak is attributed to the Cargo box light.
Last night I needed to retrieve my workbox that lives inside my truck. This is its current state: passenger molding removed around door and runningboard, wires exsposed from firewall to rear passenger seat, majority of carpet still intact and carpet is still wet. Its now thursday, dept. mgr. claims reason for delay is replacement part for ? has not arrived. Dealer has taken care of me so far, although not a truck, a car has been provided (borrowed car agreement) at no $$. I will keep you posted.

Well i got it back.. dealer states there was a gap in the sealing process from the factory, so they filled the 'void' underneath. Doesnt sound right.. Take it home.. this afternoon on my way home from work.. i hear water sloshing around somewhere under the dash.. and not a little bit of water.. it sounds like quite a bit. Almost sounds like it is under the passenger side dash area with all the heater hardware and such.

Guys and Gals,
I have the EXACT same problem with my '03 Supercab. We had a deluge two nights ago and yesterday as I was driving I heard water. Twice during turns it sounded like there was a large amount of water sloshing around under the dash somewhere. This afternoon I went out to get in my truck and happened to move the passenger floor mat and noticed that the floor on the passenger side was soaking wet. I pulled up the door sill on the passenger side and there's a channel in the body of the truck where the wires run that was FULL of water. I soaked it up with towels and dried it the best I could, but my concern remains about how this might happen again in the future. I plan to keep this truck for a LONG time and I certainly don't want the truck rusting from the inside out. If ANY of you can gain closure from a dealer on this, PLEASE post it on here for the rest of us so we can get ours fixed too... any help at all will be GREATLY appreciated....

Most of the time, the folks who report this problem with the late model trucks are dealing with a clogged drain up around the upper A-pillar.
Do a search across the site for 'pillar water leak' and I think you'll find some answers.... of course, again, this only applies to the later body style.

I have a very similar problem. I can hear what sounds like a lot of water under my right front seat extending to the engine compartment. I only hear it when I stop and it flows froward. I do not have any leaking or wet carpet in my cab though. I will be taking it in for a check up soon and will ask then what is causing this. I hope I actually get a straight answer for once! If anyone else finds out what this is and how to fix it pleae post with pictures if possible. Thanks
Well trucks been in the shop now twice for this issue, 2nd time dealer states they found water still remaining under the floor carpeting???? that was causing the sloshing sound. They pulled it up and dried it all out and checked for leaks and found none.
I get it home and it rains the next day.. guess what.. the sloshing still is there.
Any suggestions as to what to do with the deal on this since it will be visit # 3 for the same issue?

2004 screw footwell water leak
Several weeks ago I had the same problem....., wet carpet, passenger side front floorboard (foot well) area.
Service department tech. removed 3rd brake light assembly, (box light above cab) and found seal was bad. Tech replaced the 3rd brake light assembly, reassembled and checked. (5 days)
Several days after I picked up my truck, it rained, carpet was once again wet in all the same places. Returned to service department, rented F-150 4x4 off-road for $10.00 a day, now on day 4. Informed truck will be ready tommorrow. Tech. said new leak was coming from glove box area.
The following list details what has been inspected so far, most common problemareas I will list first.(only my opinion only)
Inspect all drains for proper flow.
1. Heater Core. 2. C Pillar area, trace back to Body Creece 3. Check Seal on 3rd Brake Light Assembly. 4. Glove Box, inspect body seams for leaks. 5. Passenger Seat Assembly & carpet, remove & inspect. 6. Passenger Door Seal Plate, remove & inspect.
Finally.
1st. Any time your carpet gets really wet inspect the padding underneath, if the padding underneath is wet it should be replaced, (this applies only to the padding) the carpet will dry, the padding will not, this wet padding then creates mold.
I will post again with this weeks results, until then, Good Luck.

About a week ago i smelled a musky odor in my truck and searched around. I found the rear passenger floor was wet. I lifted the carpet and pulled the rear seatback out and also the rear pillar trim. I had a friend run the hose on the truck while i was in it and found the brakelight on the roof was leaking and the water was running down the passenger rear pillar and onto the floor. I removed the light assembly and sealed it with silicone until the dealer can get the part in.
I also have the exact same problem. It has been raining like crazy here in so.cal and everytime it does I have water under the passenger door sill and the carpet is wet. I vacuum it out but the problem remains. I'm going to take it to the dealer and see what they say.
