Adding Audiophile?

Are all the connections there and ready to go pending someone wanted to add audiophile to an non-audiophile system?

You would have to check under the back seat and see if the wireing is there. From what I understand, some have it and some dont.

Anyone ballparked the price to add it?

The reason I ask is because I've found a truck that *MIGHT* suit my wants/needs but, it doesn't have the Audiophile option (and, might I add, it's the only option I want that it doesn't have)...

A new KR is in my immediate future. I have a Z-Plan pin in hand and it's burning a hole!!

why not ask the dealership to put one in? Feed them some crap about how its exactly what your looking for cept it doesnt have the audiophile, they will probably try to make you happy if they are a good dealership.

adding audiophile

I recently added most of the audiophile system. I got the headunit off of ebay and turned around and sold my dual media headunit for near the same price, so, for me the headunits were an even swap. After installing the audiophile headunit, I realized the new hu has a filter that blocks all bass to the door speakers. I researched aftermarket subs and boxes but wasn't interested in wiring and installing the amp. In the mean time I found the wiring harness under my back seat and had contacted a friend who works in the parts dept at ford who could get me the factory box, sub and amp for 245.00. So, I jumped on it. The only thing I don't have is the tweeters in the front door. I do plan on putting in some aftermarket speakers though. All in all, I'm already happy with the way it sounds compared to before. And I gained a in-dash 6 disc CD player and the sub/amp for 245.00.

It’s a simple job to add tweeters in the front doors and put a sub box under the back seat with an amp. You’ll end up with a better tweeters, subwoofer & amp than the factory audiophile. This is what I did

JLA8W04 – subwoofer - $70.
JLAVro75CT – Tweeters W/X-Over - $99.
ALPMRPT220 – amp - $139.00
10 gauge wire kit W/RCA - $19

Take this for what its worth, as I have only had my truck since Thursday, but so far I am not impressed with the audiophile system. IMO it is overpriced for what you get. If you don't have it already, an aftermarket system would yield much better sound.

Thanks guys! I'm going to check it out a little more and see what I come up with...

I don't demand HUGE sound out of a system but, I don't want it to sound shabby either... we'll see how it works out.

Sup Mr. RP!! As said before, go with aftermarket. Here is my "Add ons" to the factory system, and it sounds great!!
Subwoofer box off ebay, $129.99 shippped.
2) MTX 10" Subs for above box off ebay $95.00 shipped.
MTX 401D amp off ebay $169.00 shipped
Install kit (wires ect) $20.00

This system sounds great!!
I also added the MTX bass control and mounted it below the heater controls. I can control the amound of bass from it. It pounds!!! Clear crisp bass, really fills up the sound. I want to add some tweeters in the doors, but waiting for the wife to stop being mad about the other stuff

I did not have the wiring in my truck, but I added the audiophile. I like it. I know its not going to pound out any windows, but it has a nice clean sound with a little thump. I get tired of the 4 10s in the tacoma, so its perfect for me.

audiophile system

That's exactly why I just went ahead and added the audiophile system. I had the harness and had a connection to get the box cheap. Overall, I spent less and got a very good sounding system (in my opinion). And better yet, this is completely factory. If I ever decide to trade in the truck (for a newer f-150), I don't have to worry about yanking it out and replacing everything back to stock. This truck is my daily driver, not some show truck that needs to shake windows.

I have to agree with horseman, my truck came with the audiophile system and that was one of the first things I yanked out. I wasn't impressed with the sound quality at all. Here's what I went with:

Front Doors: 6.5 JL XR components
Rear Doors: 6.5 JL XR coax
2 JL 8w3's under the rear seat
2 Fosgate amps
Kenwood head unit
and oh can't forget the music keg....

Overall I'm pretty impressed with the system.

Cool Audiphile?

I'm new at this but maybe someone can answer me this. Who makes the Audiophile System. My wifes old truck was a Dodge and it was an Infinity. Just curious....We traded up!

audiophile

My dealer went out of state to get what I wanted. I searched the internet last year about this time and found the truck I wanted and he went after it. I guess I could of ordered one the way I wanted, but I had to buy before the end of the year for tax purposes and not one dealer in my state had what I was looking for (well...one did, but it sold out from under me; but that's a different story) so I went searching.

I have to agree with troy and sandog. It's an excellent nice clean sound with a little thump...plus it's all stock. Some are just too loud and thumpy. I guess it all depends on what your after. The audiophile suites me perfectly. You will love it RockPick! "I Guar-un-tee"
