Deep Scratch in Leather Seat

Ok...I'm a moron...I was at the Home Depot, checking off a list, etc. Stuck a pencil in my pocket. Left. When I got out of my truck I felt a pull.

My leather (tan) has a 3/4" scratch (for lack of a better word). It hasnt completely torn the leather but it is noticiable at least to me. What methods are available to repair the leather.

Publically calling me an idiot would help too...I could just about beat myself in the head with a hammer....

Arghhh!

Jim.

Okay take a deep breathe, here comes a long winded response.

As for the leather repair, check with your dealership as they will know of someone who will do the job so well you would be hard pressed to tell it was ever their.

I am speaking from experience as i installed a car starter my wifes old 2002 Escape for xmas last year and the moron who did the install litterely gauged the crap out of the dash. I was wondering why they delayed me picking it up till it was dark, but the next day in the light my wife noticed and called me and told me all about it.

So as soon as i saw it i went back to the install shop and blew a gasket, in as nice a way as possible. The owner of the shop fired the installer, and told me to goto the dealership to get a quote on replacing the dash.

Well it turns out the dash is a 1 piece dash and the part alone was well over 1000 bucks, and just about as much to install. My dealership called in their repair guy, and he said he would be able to fix it for around 60 bucks, and offer a gurantee as well.

So i went back to the install place and showed the owner the quote to replace the dash, and i swear his eyes were popping out of his head. So i made him a deal, upgraded my wifes alarm starter to the top off the line version, and free install.
I accepted his offer, and had my dealership fix it, and everyone was happy. You couldnt even tell anything was wrong. The funny thing is about 4 months later we traded it in on a new Escape, which the alarm is in now.

Hope this helps.
Trev

My bad... my bad...

You all know how many threads we all read per day... I'm just as guilty as anyone when it comes to 'skimming' the thread for information rather than reading it in detail... sorry.

Anyway, after seeing the cut, I'd take it to an automotive upholstry shop and not mess with the 'fix it' kits as I've seen so many seats end up looking 10X worse with them.

Not sure what to tell you outside of that... best of luck with it and please let us know what you're able to do to fix it...

The Case came with the DVD player ( I assume that is what you were referring to). I'll take the truck to the dealer and see what they have to say.

Thanks for the advice.
