'05 6 CD changer MP3 player UPDATE
Got my original radio re-installed Friday, while the dealer waited for a new one. Going by these previous posts and some additional findings by Curtis's dealer, I thought it just might be re-set after being out of the truck.
The CDs I'd brought with me played fine on the way home. Good so far. Once I'd gotten home (and knowing I could re-set it by merely pulling the radio fuse) I tried an MP3 CD that I had personally made....it worked.
I figured that this was the "acid test", as this CD was made for a party last summer, and was one big folder. The next test, the more traditional multi-folder CD worked fine as well.
So there you have it...it you have a problem with the CD player getting "hung" and not working properly, pull the radio fuse to re-set it....and make sure all your MP3 CDs are finalized.
I've since found out that a bad track on a disc will give the "bad disc" error message, but the discs in the other slots will still play, and the player won't be "hung" like an unfinalized CD causes.
I'll be letting my dealer know, so he'll be able to help the next person, until Ford adds this solution/warning to the radio documentation.

I guess this is assuming you HAVE MP3 capability...I was one of the early '05 buyers that got my audiophile without it.
I'm curious...does your head unit say "MP3" near the CD slot?
I think I'll take it in to Ford and say "my truck won't play MP3s!" - Maybe I'll get lucky and they replace the unit with a new one!

CD-6 over the slot, and MP3 below it.
