'05 6 cd changer problems UPDATE

Hi. Just got my scab last night with the 6 cd changer MP3 player (premium), and the player worked fine. This morning I loaded up 6 cds, and I guess the player didn't like one with MP3s on it, spit it out with a "bad disc" message. Then it started to spit out all the discs, one after another with the same message each time. Including one that I was playing last night.

Anyone have this happen, and is there a fix?

I can't seem to get it to play any disc now.

Hi,

I have a 2005 Supercrew with this same problem, only worse. I'm on my 2nd 6 Disc in Dash MP3 player, the first wouldn't even play a CD and would only give the "Bad Disc" message followed by a eject of it. I had it replaced yesterday (10/30/04) with another new unit by my dealer and after I got home, I put a MP3 disc in slot 2 only to get the same "bad disc" message. The CD in Slot one that played at my dealer now doesn't work either and I'm getting the same thing that you are. This is pissing me off, because it appears that these dam units have some sort of a problem. Guess it is back to my dealer for unit #3.

Good luck with yours.

Curtis

You're having better luck than me so far. lol My dealer had me come in and pulled the unit from my truck. That was two weeks ago today, and I've been driving around with a hole in my dash and no clock. The dealership wasn't hearing much from Ford, so I called the Ford customer relationship number this morning....explaining how I love the dealership etc, BUT what's Ford doing about this? They called the dealerships parts guy. Now I have a message that Ford doesn't have the repair parts for the unit yet, and they're going to send my unit back so I can "at least have a radio in the meantime".

What the heck is this?? Why can't they just send me another unit from the assembly plant (or wherever the plant gets them from)??? I paid for a new unit....not a "refurbished" one. Does this "new for '05" unit have a flaw, and Ford is beginning to realize it?? Is there a part that addresses this particular problem? The unit looks pretty much like the audiophile unit.

arrrrghhh!!

I'm starting to get pissed!!

I'm seeing a common thread here: I successfully played a couple of CDs on my way home from the dealer after purchasing the truck, and later that night also.

It wasn't until the next morning that I put an MP3 disc into the thing that it "freaked out", and wouldn't play anything after that. I never actually had a single MP3 play on the thing, and it doesn't sound like you did either.

Ford, are you listening????

I had the same problem with a 2003 Ranger FX4 with the Mach-MP3 stereo.

My solution was to make sure the CD's I burned were "finalized". When I did that, they played without problems.

Not sure where that setting was because it was a long time ago. I use Nero to burn CDs.

'05 6 CD changer MP3 player UPDATE

Got my original radio re-installed Friday, while the dealer waited for a new one. Going by these previous posts and some additional findings by Curtis's dealer, I thought it just might be re-set after being out of the truck.

The CDs I'd brought with me played fine on the way home. Good so far. Once I'd gotten home (and knowing I could re-set it by merely pulling the radio fuse) I tried an MP3 CD that I had personally made....it worked.

I figured that this was the "acid test", as this CD was made for a party last summer, and was one big folder. The next test, the more traditional multi-folder CD worked fine as well.

So there you have it...it you have a problem with the CD player getting "hung" and not working properly, pull the radio fuse to re-set it....and make sure all your MP3 CDs are finalized.

I'll be letting my dealer know, so he'll be able to help the next person, until Ford adds this solution/warning to the radio documentation.
