Question Temp Guage

Does anyone notice the temp guage in the new 04-05 f150's doesn't move as fast as the 97-03 f150's? My 98's guage would move to its normal positon a lot faster then my 04 does. Are the temp sensors in different parts of the engines now, reading different temperatures which would cause the difference? I've got 3 miles of city driving before I get on the freeway, my 04's temp guage is only on the 1st line, then moves to the half way point or 2nd line, about 1 mile down the freeway. My 98 would be warmed up before I even hit the freeway. Does anyone worry about the engine not being warmed up fully before they hit the highway? Or do these new engines not need a full warm-up before you hit the highway? I do live in Wisconsin, so temps are going to be dropping soon.

The slow poke movement on the gauges of these '04's unfortuneately are what they are . It's sort of the design or as i like to call it, the lack of design. They work almost like a wimpy dummy light, ( especially the oil pressure gauge which doesn't gauge anything ) The overpaid design geeks dropped the ball on that one. By the time your gauges detect trouble it'll be too late.
That's the one thing i miss about my Jeep that i traded out of for this truck is my oil pressure gauge, it would move instantly with accelleration or de-accelleration so you knew what was up at all times, and the nimrods at Ford just don't get it...

The temp gauge works perfect, ive had my diablo hooked up and watched the temp, and its perfect. The slowing moving gauges and moving gauges ford opted out of because people would complain that there car is running cold or too hot, so its within a range now; So they dont get the stupid people complaining.

So dont blame ford, blame the supid people that complained about the gauges.

Not necessarily a gauge problem, but at 1500 mi. the thermostat malfunctioned on a 20 mile drive, the radiator blew out at the bottom(so I could not see any steam) and by the time the gauge shot up and the alarm went off the coolant system was dry.

So, did the engine go into "limp" mode like it's suppose to?

If yes, then no harm done.

If no, your under warranty...

no it does but its real vague. for example if its within 40-80psi then its going to be right in the middle all the time.

Maybe the oil pressure gauge and the temperature gauge are crossed wired?
