Thumbs up Just talked with MTX about the Thunderforms and new Thunderbox!!

Looks like we will have another few options for our 04/05 F150's. I just finished talking with MTX about their thunderforms.. and they told me they will first introduce the new thunderbox (wood construction) at SEMA.... Then later on they will bring out the plastic constructed thunderforms.. Both will have the option of being self powered... for the clean installation..

Since I'm leaving for SEMA in a couple hours, I'll stop by their booth...

Here's a Link...

yeah, stop by and see if you can find out more info!

What would the price be with the self-powered amp too? I like that you can probably keep/use your factory head unit too.

What's the difference between the wood and plastic enclosure? The actual weight of each?

So did you stop by their booth at SEMA?

I sent them email asking about the boxes so I'll see what they tell me as well...

EDIT: Just received email back from MTX (Mitek?) here's what they said:

Steve:

All of our new product will be debuted at the CES show in January and I
am uncertain if we are coming out with an enclosure for the specified
vehicle. What I can suggest is checking back with us after the first
of
the year on this product.

I hate to be the negative guy, but I had a thunderform in my last truck and it sucked. When I bought my new truck I used the same amp with two JL w3's in a custom box which ended being cheaper than the thunderform.

Just my 2 cents

^explain more why it sucked and what truck did you have it in? Was it the box with the built-in amp? How much did you pay for it?

I just like the idea of this setup because everything is built into one box, and it also comes with the power/ground wires, and you can tap into your speaker wires for the input and retain your factory headunit.

If the actual MTX kit won't be out for awhile, what do you guys think of this pseudo-MTX kit from Supercrewsound:

Hey.. that box looks good.. and for $119.00 it doesn't seem like a bad price either... Although, I would find a better quality sub that works with 1 cu ft or less of space.... and I would definetly get a better amp...

I had a thunderform with two 10" subs in it and it didn't have the built in amp. I used a 2 channel fosgate amp with them (the same amp I'm using now with my JL's). I should rephrase my comment, they sucked compared to the JL's I have now. They are alot cleaner and tighter. It depends what you're going for though, most people would be happy with the thunderform and the mtx subs that go with it and it is a clean set up if you get the loaded enclosure (with the amp). I also have JL components in the front and coax in the rear that are amped and those mtx's would not be able to keep up with the JL mid's and high's.

Sorry, I didn't answer all your questions, I had it in a 2003 dodge ram quad cab and I think it cost me about $300.

thanks. Since the MTX package won't be out for awhile, I'm looking into just getting a single 10" box to go under the seat, and pick out my own amp and sub.
