Does anyone know what the Audiophile sub box volume is that comes with the audio system? I would like to replace the sub that is it.

Why go through the trouble of replacing just the sub? You'll still have the same crappy amp pushing a slightly better 8" sub. Save your money, or give it to me.

If you want better sound out of it, then replace it all. Box/Sub/Amp. JL Audio is supposed to have their stealthbox out any day now...

I dont just want to hook it up to the original amp that comes with the audiophile system. I am going to hook it up to my alpine amp. I just can not afford a new box at this time and just want to use the audiophile box temporarly. I plan on getting a custom built box with 2 8" subs and a good mono amp in the near future. This is just a temporary fix to get a bit more base.

Ahhh... I'd still stick it out until you can do it all at once.

I would agree, but going that route would be a bit cheaper, for now.

My plan is to put a single 8" JL Audio 8W3v2 in the box and hook it up to my rear channels of my Alpine F340 amp for a temporary solution of low base.

I currently have An Alpine Deck which is running the rear speakers, the Alpine F340 4 channel amp which is running my front Alpine component speakers.

Future plans will be to get a mono amp (either an Alpine or MTX), a custom built box for 2 8" JL Audio 8W3v2, a pair of 6x8 alpine speakers for the rears and hook those up to the rear channels of the 4 channel amp.

How does that sound?

Sounds good, but why not a single 10" instead? Should be just about as tight as the 8s and you'll have the better sounding deep bass the 8s just can't get to without some distortion. And that's bad.

What ever sub you end up with, it has to have a small mounting depth to fit under the rear seat. Just check that before you spend any money.
One way to check the volume is to take it out and fill it will those foam peanuts, than take a cardboard box which you can easily find the volume of and measure the peanuts from the full sub box to see how much the volume is.
