SCREW door/"b" pillar rattle

I have an intermittent rattle coming from the drivers side door or "B" pillar on my 04 SCREW. I've brought it to the dealer for an oil change and RF tire balance on two different occasions and both times had them try to resolve the rattle. Both times they adjusted the door latch/striker assembly. I can't imagine how that could be causing the rattle, and both times I wasn't even out of the parking lot and it was rattling again. Anybody have any problem like this, and next time I guess I have to insist they remove the door panel, something is definately loose inside. Any ideas??? Thanks

At 5500 miles, I've developed a killer rattle on the passenger's side pillar area, but in the headliner. I've got the sunroof, so I'm not sure if something there as loosened up. If I lightly bounced the headliner toward the rear of the sunroof on the right side, I can easily duplicate the rattle. I'm waiting for the next oil change before having the dealer look at it. I'm not to thrilled about them opening up the headliner, but the racket is enough to make a guy go Postal.

Read this - might help you pinpoint it (especially the post 5 or so down about the insulation falling off the inner door panel. It seems to be pretty rare, but)....

Hey Guys,

Mine been to the shop (over 40 miles one-way) Three times for the headliner rattle. I have a Screw with a sun roof. Mine comes and goes. Sometimes you cant make it rattle, other times, small bumps seem to cause it. When it get really bad, you can push up on or in front of the dome lite and hear it pop each time. Then it will disappear only to return.
I called my Ford guy today on the speaker phone and let him hear it since he cant reproduce it when he has it. (they have taken the headliner down twice and checked everything) I asked him to call the ford help desk before I loose my truck for a week while he looks for it. (Its been in the shop over 7 weeks Since October.) If anyone finds a fix or knows of one let me know.

Thanks

My rides at:

bvfd10 - my headliner rattle is EXACTLY what you described. I haven't taken it in yet. I'm waiting on the next oil change.

I need to ask, is yours more of a "pop" ? I got in mine after it had set in the sun for about 3 hours today and it started it again. I traced it down to the drivers side near or behind the "garment hook". Thats where it "stopped", because I could not figure a way to remove the hook so I could get the head liner down to see whats "popping". Anyone here know how that garment hook releases ? there is no screw under the cap. Looks like it takes a special tool to take down ?? I am sure I can figure it out if I can get the head liner down where I can see whats going on .

Thanks
