Another new owner/member

hello fellow f150 owners. i just wanted to formally introduce myself.

i picked up my 04 lariat supercrew a few weeks ago. it's the first new vehicle i've ever purchased. previously i owned a 1995 honda civic that i've been driving for 8 years (bought it used when i was in highschool). i loved the car for it's reliability and gas mileage (35-40 mpg ), but it was time for something new.

over time, i noticed it was becoming harder to get in and out of a compact car. i'm only 6-foot 185 lbs, but i wanted something with a little more room... plus, my girlfriend and i ride sportbikes... we've been taking the bikes to the track for recreational practice/racing and i eventually want to get an enclosed trailer. so i needed a vehicle that can tow.

i started looking at trucks early this summer and fell in love with the 2002 f150 harley edition. i test drove one and came close to buying it. however, i didn't like the idea of paying around $28k for a truck that was already 2 years old and almost out of warranty. plus, the harley guys would laugh at me if i was towning a sportbike with a harley truck

so i continued to look and i really liked the new design of the f150. the flowthrough console with center shifter is sweet. there's no other truck on the market that has the stylish interior like the new f150. dodge, gmc, chevy, and nissan all looked cheap to me.

i chose the lariat because i wanted automatic climate control and i liked the interior a little better than the fx4. i don't see myself doing any off roading so i went with the 4x2. my only "small" regret so far is the color. i really like dark shadown grey, but that isn't made for the lariat model. so my first choice was black. however, my civic was black and it was a pain to keep clean. i bought the arizona beige and that was my second color choice. so overall, i'm happy with the color and the truck. i got a great deal (x-plan) because i have a friend that works for ford.

even though the gas is going to put a big dent in my wallet, i love the truck. it puts a smile on my face every time i drive it.

i just got pics and they will be in my gallery soon.

-Ben

Congrats on the new Lariat, two words of advice here...

1. be aware of the low intensity conflict between the FX4 and Lariat owners. I think some are out there laying mines in the DMZ as we speak.

2. since you ride a sport bike watch ut for dzervit, he has a history of swerving to knock bikers off the road (as well as childrn on tricycles and old women). Ask Beanhead he'll fill you in.

Welcome and congrats on the Lariat!

Don't worry, the permagrin only lasts a year or two unless you get more mods...then it starts all over again.

Nice truck. Whether its a loaded lariat, or a base XL, your gonna love it. Also, I dont like the looks of that damage picture in there. Less than 5 hours and someone hit you? Time to park 1/2 a mile down the parking lot away from everyone. Also nerf bars will help protect against some of those unwanted dings from careless people.

And its nanner time again....

thanks for all the nanners...

Razor249: the rc51 is a sweet bike... i ride a 2000 gsxr750... here's one of my better pics from a track day at Talladega (Alabama)

my next track day is Barber in october. you have some of the best tracks in CA though. i'm trying to come out to CA next year. i heard moto gp will be at laguna.

TXCoUnTrYbOy: i picked up my truck on my lunch break... drove it back to work and worked the remainder of the day... i usually hit the gym after work, then go home to eat dinner... someone either hit me at work or at the gym... the parking space at work was a normal space between 2 cars, but i parked on the very end space while i was at the gym... needless to say i was very pissed when i saw the scratches that evening... so i drove it straight to the dealer and they are going to take care of me...

Nerf bars are first on the list of mods!
