ipod connection

I found this site the other day and was wondering if anyone has ever installed this type of ipod connector in a vehicle, or if anyone knows if this set up would work with the stock unit?

Well I really don't want to use a FM trans. However I already have a new Clarion 945MP headunit with AUX hook ups in the back. Can someone point me in the right direction? I just want to be able to play my MP3 player thru the speakers, I don't care if I have to run a wire from the fuse box to power it.

This unti will not work with 2004 or later f150's

at the moment there isno solution for hardwire connection to stock headunits in 0 and later 150's

Soundgate and Blitzsafe are working on them but it is taking forever to get them out.

I remember this thread that I posted on several months ago when I was also curious of a way to hook up my iPod to my truck. I eventually went with the Alpine iPod interface adapter. Blitzsafe and other companies kept on saying they they are working on releasing a unit sometime "very soon", but "very soon" never came and it appears that it might be sometime late this year or early next year when a unit finally becomes available to the public. That's why I went with the Alpine interface adapter.

Dell Disc Jockey / FM Transmitter...

I bought my son the Dell Disc Jockey along with the FM transmitter and I was impresed. This completely eliminated any hard wire needs.

I've already bought a new headunit so I really need some help on figuring out how to do this. Is there a cable that just plugs into the I-Pod and than to the back of the head unit through the AUX?

This eventually was my answer for my 40 gig iPod. I have a newer Kenwood head unit with AUX jacks in the back. The 'Pod is connected via a Y RCA cable that runs out the back of the ashtray and powered with a car adapter I found on ebay for $10. Not shown is the wired remote. It plugs into the same headphone jack and the RCA cable plugs into another jack on it. The remote is decent enough to scroll from song to song on an album or playlist but I can't jump to different albums or artists. I'll get around to upgrading to a wireless remote someday. The 'Pod is attached to dash with some industrial velcro. Believe me it won't budge and I've never had problems with skipping.

I shied away from the FM transmitters because the fidelity is quite lacking. With the AUX connection, sound quality is excellent!

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. Where did you get the RCA cable from? I plan on taking out my ashtray and making something to put in the place of it out of fiberglass to hold my I-Pod and than just run some wires from the fuse box to power it.

Im just going to create playlists for when I want to use my I-Pod.

You can get the Y RCA cable from virtually anywhere including Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City.

. . . and than just run some wires from the fuse box to power it.

Had you planned on modifying an iPod power adapter and run wires to your fuse box? Let me know how that turns out because I would definitely be interested in doing something similar.
