Angry nibble, moans, a/c surge...

I'm just another one. hahaha. 04 f150 stx 4X4 4.6. The truck is in the shop for the 4th time for steering nibble and moans from the rear diff. Steering nibble corrections....dampner, new tires, driveshaft, new guts in the diff and no fix.lol, lemon.

One thing i have not seen anyone talking about is the rear diff moaning when put in reverse after a very hard rain. Dealer thought it was wet brakes but it wasn't. It made the moaning noise before and after the rear diff was rebuilt. Dealer is now stumped and having some hot shot guy come in to look at it.

Also the dealer said it has no fix as of yet for the A/C surging. It makes a clunk noise under the pass. dash.

Tailgate straps are not the same length. New ones put on...still one side tight and other side loose. The pass. side is loose.

Everytime the windows are rolled down and then they come back up w/ a streak of grease on the inside. no power windows.

alright i've vented.

Mine is going into the shop this Wednesday for the "nibble" which has now evolved into a "shake". After sitting for about 4 hours, I could drive the truck and the nibble would go away after driving the vehicle for about 2 miles. Once it hit 5,500 miles the nibble stuck around and has now turned into a shaking. I can feel the shake all throughout the vehicle.

I hope the dealer can fix this - other than that, I really like the truck.

Anyone having a shaking issue or whatever - should have your emergency brake checked. A dealer on another site found that some trucks had the e-brake installed wrong. Something about a bracket or something that was backwards or whatever. In any case, the issue was that the rear brakes were constantly rubbing and at times this caused shudders, vibrations, etc.

Might even be the cause of that moan when backing up. Who knows.

My truck has the grease on the window thing too. I figure it will go away as soon as it wears the grease away, at least hopefully.

Had my truck since 10-24-03 (built 9-03 Kansas City plant) and it’s perfect. No nibble, vibration, bed shake, rear end moan, rear end clunk, A/C’s ice cold, bed straps are the same length, etc., etc., etc. Perfect!

Lariat sounds like that could be a issue and the dealers aren't to it yet. Common brake groan when backing up. Driving forward will make them heat up and expand causing a grab and release effect. I enjoy the learning something new everyday. Ford still rocks. Hey JPDAD take the truck from your wife she may not be telling you LOL.
